Gayla received a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Arkansas in 1987 and received her law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School in December of 1989. After practicing law in Gravette for one year, she founded KBVA-FM in September of 1991. She spent the next 26 years programming and managing KBVA Variety 106.5.

In July of this year, Gayla sold KBVA to another radio group and subsequently purchased the former Petra Stone property in Gravette. In December of 2017, Gayla will open her new manufacturing stone business, Petra Stone Designs of Gravette.

Gayla and her husband Loyd have been married for 22 years. Loyd manages a poultry and cattle farm. The couple has two daughters, Elizabeth, 19, who is a freshman at Liberty University, and Maggie, 17, who is a junior at Gravette High School.

Gayla's interests, if elected, include guardianships, foster children, education and property taxes. She enjoyed serving the listeners of Variety 106.5 and built many life-long relationships with those listeners. Gayla looks forward to the opportunity to work hard to serve constituents if elected.
