Rec panel to write white paper to increase amenities usage

The Joint Committee on Recreation is starting the tasks they received from POA administration for 2015, including a white paper outlining ways to increase amenity use, committee chairman Bill Puskas said after the meeting.

Puskas said the committee had been tasked with finding ways to encourage members to use the amenities so a white paper will be written. Last year, the committee composed a white paper about the repurposing of the Branchwood Golf Course, which was presented to the board.

The board agreed with the committee's position and is currently working on a plan for the former course.

Members of the committee also will help with special events planned to celebrate the POA's 50th anniversary, including the Three Skills Challenge planned for May 30. The event includes food trucks and music in the parking lot, he said.

Puskas said that Recreation Manager Clem Morgan told the committee that he will work on the Metfield tennis courts and outside pickle ball courts this summer, using in house labor. The damaged surface of both sets of courts has been discussed by the committee in the past.

The committee will meet at the Kingsdale tennis facility for its next meeting at 3 p.m. on June 8.
