Emily Kaitz and Dennis Collins, two seasoned musicians, will perform for the Third Thursday House Concert at the Artist Retreat Center in Old Bella Vista at 7 p.m. on May 21.

The Fayetteville-based musicians will play original and cover songs. Vocal harmony, guitar interplay and an overall sense of fun will predominate.

Kaitz came to northwest Arkansas in 1998 at the height of her singer-songwriter career that she had nurtured for 21 years in Austin, Texas. At that time, she was touring nationally and recording the many CDs of her own music that she has produced on her own label, Pingleblobber.

Known primarily for her humorous, quirky, lyric-driven songs with titles like "Shallow End of the Gene Pool," "Small Medium at Large" and "Maintenance Nightmare," her material is whimsical and irreverent; some of her songs have been recorded by Chet Atkins, Trout Fishing in America and the Austin Lounge Lizards.

Collins cut his musical teeth on the southern California bluegrass scene of the mid-1970s. Also influenced by singer-songwriters of that era, his style reflects a blending of the two. His material includes folk and bluegrass covers as well as some thoughtful originals. He has performed with many musicians and bands around northwest Arkansas, including Hogeye Ramblers and Old Dime Box.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Reservations can be made by calling 479-268-6463. The Artist Retreat Center is located at 13467 Lookout Drive.
