NARFE Arkansas Federation announces new officers

Frank Barbieri of Bella Vista was elected vice president of District 3 South by the National Association of Active and Retired Employees Arkansas Federation of Chapters at its 59th annual state convention in Conway recently.

Other officers include: Winston Wolfe of Hot Springs Village, NARFE Federation president; Warren Searls of Hot Springs Village, federation executive vice president; Linda Behm of Hot Springs Village, federation secretary; Lynn Williams of Heber Springs, federation treasurer and also vice president of District 1 West; Woodrow Turner of Tuckerman, vice president of District 1 East; Stanley Chapman of Little Rock, vice president of District 2; Wynell Choate of Ashdown, vice president of District 4 West; and Billie J. Minton of Pine Bluff, vice president of District 4 East.

NARFE is a national organization that works to safeguard the benefits of active and retired federal employees. Its members are active in their communities as volunteers.

Membership is open to all active and retired federal employees.

As of March 31, NARFE members nationwide have contributed more than $10.79 million toward its goal of $11 million for Alzheimer's research. The organization also funds scholarships and disaster assistance programs. More than $800,000 has been awarded in scholarships to children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepchildren of NARFE members since 1998, and members have donated more than $580,000 to help victims of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy and other natural disasters.

Arkansas is home to more than 39,550 active and retired federal employees whose employment contributes several million dollars to the Arkansas economy.
