s 8 to 10 a.m. Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will conduct a blood drive at Mercy Bella Vista, 1 Mercy Way. All negative blood types are especially needed. To be eligible to give blood, a person must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present photo identification. Each donation will be awarded LifePoints as a part of CBCO's donor rewards program. LifePoints may be redeemed online for a variety of gift cards, or points may be assigned to other meaningful causes or charities. Details may be found at www.cbco.org.

All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit shelter. To get to 2 Leafield Lane, take U.S. 71 north to Trafalgar Road, turn right onto Trafalgar and then left onto Leafield. It is the corner house on the right.

s 4:30 p.m. The Pineville-Jane (Mo.) American Legion Post 392 will host its Third Friday dinner. This month's menu will feature baked chicken, potatoes, vegetable, salad, rolls, dessert and drinks. A donation of $7 is requested for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds go to support the American Legion. The Legion building is located on Route W, just east of the stoplight on Business Highway 71 in Pineville. Carryout is available.

s 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Works by local sculptors, carvers, turners, chip carvers, relief carvers and pyrographers will be showcased in an "Artistry in Wood" show at Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Drive, Bella Vista. The show is sponsored by the Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club. Door prizes carved by club members will be given away hourly.

Sunday, July 20

s 2 p.m. Janice Kennedy will give a presentation about the Bella Vista Garden Club and its activities at the Bella Vista Historical Museum as a focal point for the club's exhibit that will be on display at the museum the entire month. The museum is located at the corner of U.S. 71 and Kingsland Road, next to the American Legion. Admission is free.

Friday, July 25

s 7 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to meet nature and wildlife photographer Silas Byers, who will show new work and some of his favorites at The ARC in Bella Vista, located in the historic two-story log cabin on U.S. 71 across from Lake Bella Vista. A native Arkansan, Byers has photographed throughout Arkansas and the world, traveling from the Straits of Alaska to the jungles of Africa to capture the majestic details of nature.

Saturday, July 26

s 2 p.m. Still on the Hill, an award-winning folk duo, will play "Once a River" songs at the Hobbs State Park visitor center in Rogers, located on U.S. 12 just east of its intersection with War Eagle Road. The free concert is part of a project to create awareness of Beaver Lake and its watershed. The duo will give away 100 CDs -- one per family -- on a first-come, first-served basis. s 8:30 p.m. "Frozen" will be shown during a free Movie Night at the Metfield Pavilion, 1 Hilltop Drive, in Bella Vista. The event is sponsored by the Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association. Free drinks and popcorn will be available. Those who plan on attending should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. To reach the Metfield Pavilion, take U.S. 71 to Trafalgar Road, turn right on Commonwealth Road and take another right on Hilltop Drive.

Saturday, Aug. 2

s 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. United Methodist Women's annual rummage sale will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, located at 20 Boyce Drive. There will be something for everyone. Cinnamon rolls and lunch will be available. All proceeds support local charities.

Saturday, Aug. 16

s 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Highlands Church's 24th annual Homes Tour will feature five homes in Bella Vista. There also will be activities in the fellowship hall at the Church, 371 Glasgow Road, including the Highlands Cafe, where hot dogs, chips, dessert and drinks will be sold; an antique fair, where there will be antique sales as well as appraisals of antiques for a fee; and a free classic car show. In addition, there will be a raffle. At each home, chances can be purchased for $1 each or $5 for six. Each home will have a gift card valued at $200 for Lowe's, Allen's Foods, Pinnacle Promenade Shops including Best Buy and Target, Walmart and a Visa card. Advanced tickets are $10 and may be purchased after July 16 at Bella Vista banks or from church members. Tickets are $12 on the day of the tour and may be purchased at the homes or the Highlands Gate. All proceeds from the tour go to local charities. Call 479-855-2277 for more information.

Saturday, Aug. 23

s 5 to 9 p.m. Granny's Quilts of Love invites the public to its annual dinner and auction in the cafeteria at Pea Ridge High School. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The meal includes pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, pickle, chips, homemade dessert and drink. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child with children 2 and under eating for free. The club will raffle off two prizes -- $1,000 cash and a Bosch dishwasher. Saturday, Sept. 13

s 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New and antique quilts will be for show and sale during the 37th Ozark Quilt Fair on the grounds of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in downtown Springdale. Cash prize Viewer's Choice awards will be given. The entry fee is $10 per exhibitor. Entry deadline is Sept. 10.
