Prudence Hagan of Bella Vista has been selected to direct the Pride of the Ozarks Chorus in its Sept. 13 show at Arkansas Arts Academy in Rogers.

She replaces Harry Swarts of Holiday Island, who resigned in October 2013.

Pride of the Ozarks is an all-male a cappella singing organization affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. Hagan brings 22 years of high-level experience in Sweet Adelines International, an all-female a cappella singing organization, to the chorus.

Hagan has sung with several award-winning Sweet Adelines quartets and was Baritone Section Leader for the international champion, the San Diego Chorus, before moving to northwest Arkansas.

In less than one year, Hagan took the Sweet Adelines' ArkApella chorus of Rogers to "Most Improved Chorus" status at a recent competition in Tulsa, Okla.

Hagan works for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association.

The Pride of the Ozarks Chorus meets from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at Apple Blossom Residence Community Room, 2501 N. 22nd St., in Rogers. Men who like to sing are welcome to attend.
