Village Bible

Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building Committee will meet at 4 p.m. The Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The all-church 5:30 p.m. dinner will be hamburgers and hot dogs, plus salad and dessert. Donations will be accepted. Choir practice starts at 7:30 p.m., and the Worship Team rehearses at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, April 17, the Hebrews Bible study, led by the Rev. Ron Morris, will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

A Good Friday service will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18. The Rev. Mark Voll's message will be "At the Cross."

The Men's Breakfast Fellowship will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 19, and the Church Board will convene at 8:30 a.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, the first worship service will be at 8:30 a.m. with the choir singing. At 9:45 a.m., in lieu of Sunday school, there will be an expanded time of fellowship with a light breakfast being served. The second worship service will be at 11 a.m., also with the choir. The Rev. Mark Voll's sermon title will be "Because He Lives" based on Matthew 28:1-7. Infant nursery and children's church will be available at the second service.

Intercessory Prayer for the Building Program will be held at the church at 9 a.m. Monday, April 21.

On Tuesday, April 22, the ladies' Bible study titled "Jesus' Final Week" will meet at 9:30 a.m. with Joanne Morris leading the study. The ladies' KniTTogether ministry and White Cross EFCA Women's Mission ministry will also meet at 7 p.m.

Also Tuesday, the men's Bible study on 2 Peter, led by the Rev. Ron Morris, will meet at 7 p.m.

Community Church

The Men's Study Group meets every Wednesday morning at 8 in the parlor at Bella Vista Community Church.

Parish nurses perform blood pressure checks on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and on the last Sunday of each month between services. There is no charge, and no appointment is necessary. This service is available to anyone in the community.

Prayer fellowship meets every Wednesday morning at 9:15 in the conference room.

Memory Disorder Caregivers support group meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parlor.

Wednesday night family activities begin at 6 with a pizza supper on the lower level, followed by Bible study from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for young adults, youth and children. A nursery is provided.

Also Wednesday, a Newcomers' Orientation will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the parlor. Anyone interested in knowing more about the ministry of Community Church is invited to attend.

On Thursday, April 17, the Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 1 p.m. in McKay Hall. Growing through Grief support group meets at 3:30 p.m. in the parlor.

A Maundy Thursday Communion service will be offered at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

On Saturday, April 19, Cups and Croissants will meet from 9 a.m. to noon to play White Elephant Bingo. Bring a wrapped item from home to trade.

The Rev. Eric Sloter will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Easter Sunday, April 20. The chapel is open for prayer from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Following the 10:15 a.m. service, there will be lunch and an Easter egg hunt.

Catholic Church

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults classes, for those interested in learning about the Catholic faith, meet at 7 p.m. every Wednesday in the parish hall. This is an open class and all are welcome.

Holy Thursday services will be held on April 17 at 7 p.m.

Stations of the cross will be held on Friday, April 18 at noon, following "Seven Last Words of Christ."

Easter Vigil will take place on Saturday, April 19, at 8 p.m.

Easter Sunday celebration will be at 9 a.m.

Crafters are again meeting in the hall every Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. Come early, stay late or come for as long as time allows.

Bingo will be played Thursday, May 1. Doors and a snack bar open at 5:45 p.m. and play starts at 6:30. The blackout jackpot is always $1,000. The community is welcome.

Methodist

Jaimie Alexander will conclude the sermon series "The Reel Jesus" with "Love Revealed -- Easter" using the message from John 20:1-2.

Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friend. They meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 9 a.m. in room 5.

Bazaar workshops meet every Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the quilt room. Snacks will be available; those planning to stay the day may bring a sack lunch. No particular talent is required, but those with sewing abilities are greatly appreciated.

Lenten brown bag devotionals continue Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The topic is "24 Hours That Changed the World."

The second portion of the study of "Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy" continues. Check with the office for location and price.

The TAN adult Sunday school class started a new session on April 6 discussing a DVD series titled "The Early Church: Conquering the gates of hell." The group meets at 8:30 a.m.

The Maundy Thursday service on April 17, a recreation of The Last Supper, will be presented with members from the congregation portraying Jesus' disciples. No rehearsal will be needed; all the parts will be handed out to the congregation that night and will be read. This is an opportunity to be a part of an important night in the life of Jesus. Jesus will be portrayed by Doug Stone and Judas by John Crain.

A "Cross Walk" will take place April 18 beginning at 2 p.m. The walk will originate at the Highlands Golf Course parking lot and will end in the church's front parking lot. A 15-minute outdoor service will be offered at 2:45 p.m. and a blowing of the Shofar will be at 3 p.m.

The annual Highland Flea will take place April 26 from 7 to 11 a.m. General item drop-off will be April 22-24 and large-item pickup will be Friday, April 25. Lutheran Church

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church will hold a Good Friday service at 6 p.m.

A Lord's Supper Tableaux and Communion service will be held on Maundy Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County

April 20 is Topic Forum Sunday. Harris McKee will lead the the discussion on "The History of Doubt." Discussion will show how much the UU search for meaning follows doubters in ancient times from Greece to India. Unitarian Universalists have much in common with those who through the ages have questioned the religious doctrine of their culture. Harris will share information which suggests that Jesus, about whom the Easter season revolves, was also a doubter in his time. Attendees will have an opportunity to take a Scale of Doubt quiz that will help position them across a spectrum of modern doubt.
