Dan Burmester, Bella Vista Men's Nine-hole Golf Association president, presented checks to three local charities on Friday, March 21.

Checks for $525 each were given to Mary McKee with the Bella Vista Public Library Foundation, Becky Fox of Bella Vista Courtesy Van and Shannon Bryant, executive director of Village House Adult Day Program.

Harris McKee, secretary and treasurer for the nine-hole group, explained that the gifts were made possible by a program held weekly during the April to October season. Golfers are invited to contribute $1 for the opportunity to win 50 percent of the pot for being closest to the pin on the "Charity Hole." The remaining 50 percent accumulated throughout the year and at two banquets are given to local nonprofit organizations.

The golf association plays on Wednesday mornings with tee times, and is one of the only groups in Bella Vista that offers this option to members. New members are welcome. Membership applications are available online at www.bellavistapoa.com/golf/golfassociations/m9application.htm.
