Finley Tyson Carter

Finley Tyson Carter died Jan. 21, 2021, of brain cancer, while in his Momma's arms and with his Daddy rubbing on this feet.

He was born Oct. 16, 2019, to Michael and Meg Carter, into a big family of 6. His siblings are Alyson Carter, age 13, Rhett Carter, age 10, Landon Carter, age 6, and Urijah Carter, age 2. His grandmothers are Tandee Baldridge Brown and Barbara Carter. He was born with a full head of red curly hair and was pure joy and love with an infectious laugh. He loved to cuddle and eat his bottle. He fought hard at Arkansas Children's Hospital against his brain tumor.

His stuffed animal, Tigger, never left his side throughout his fight. In remembrance of Finley, his family is going to donate Tigger's to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

In place of flowers, please make donations to Arkansas Children's Hospital, Goodness Village, and/or Beads of Courage.

Elayne B. Harlow

Elayne B. Harlow, 89, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Circle of Life Hospice House located in Bentonville.

She was born June 8, 1931, in San Francisco, Calif., the daughter of Ethel and Hyman Klein. She enjoyed reading, journaling and coloring. She was a self-help teacher and counselor for many years. She and Dick moved to Bella Vista from Eugene, Ore., in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and the father of her children, Robert Pollak.

She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Harlow, whom she married March 20, 1982; two sons, Craig Pollak (Kitty) of California, Kevin Pollak (partner Jaime) of California; and two grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.

Curt Carl Kimpfbeck

Curt Carl Kimpfbeck, beloved husband, father and grandfather died on January 5, 2021. Curt was born in Racine, Wis., to Carl and Gustel Kimpfbeck on January 23, 1930.

Curt graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and spent 40 years traveling the world as an International Export Director. He earned the President's "E" award for excellence in export trade twice.

Curt was married to Carol Winther on April 24, 1954. They were happily married for 62 years.

Upon retirement, Curt and Carol moved to Bella Vista, Ark. They enjoyed golf, church activities and wonderful friends for 25 years.

Curt is survived by his three children, Barbara(Larry) Yost, Steven, Jan (Marek) Tylko, grandchildren Clare Kimpfbeck, Ben Yost, Gustel Tylko; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Blake. He's also survived by nieces and nephews.

Services to be held at a later date.

Robert Wayne Martin

Robert "Bob" Wayne Martin died Jan. 19, 2021, at his home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Long Beach, Calif., to Robert and Alice Martin. At 17, he left home to join the U.S. Navy, serving four years on the USS Buchanan. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a boiler technician for several years before finding his true calling as a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, cooking and spending time with family. He met his wife, Dianna in July 1987, doing something he loved, riding his motorcycle through the Ozarks. They were married a year later in July 1988.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Alice May Michel Martin.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dianna Lynn (Christian) Martin; his daughter, Rebecca Michelle Martin; his father, Robert Lenord Martin; four sisters, Suze (Harry) Tapp of Rogers, Michelle Peterman of Oklahoma, Marietta Nevel of Huntsville, Amy Martin of Rogers.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.

Max F. Moderegger

Born in Yankton, S.D., Max grew up in the Great Depression, often breaking horses for area farmers and working with his father at the Yankton stockyards while still in the 6th and 7th grade. He was nicknamed "Little Mud," his older brother was "Big Mud" and his father was "Old Mud."

He finished his formal schooling by graduating from 8th grade and continued breaking horses and working at the Ford garage in Yankton. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 1946 to June 1947, he married June Brust in Omaha, Neb., and worked as an engine mechanic for several construction companies in Omaha, including Caterpillar and CMI Paving. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing, traveling and going to casinos before retiring and moving to Bella Vista, Ark., in 1993. There, they continued those activities as well as golfing and taking yearly fishing trips to Minnesota with other couples.

He moved to The Brookfield Assisted Living Center in Bella Vista in August 2014 after his wife's death in 2013 and later to Legacy Garden in Pender in January 2018 to be closer to family. He died at Legacy Garden on January 14, 2021.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Edith and husband Quentin "PeeWee" Howe, Patricia and husband Lorimer "Pete" Peterson, Mary and husband Orlein Hevle, Judy and Margie at a young age; brother, George and wife Margaret Moderegger; two infant brothers; and a brother-in-law, Howard Jensen.

Survived by sisters Janet (Norvin) Hansen of Pender, Neb., and Kathy Jensen of Lincoln.

Robert Arlen Scott

Robert Arlen Scott, 88, died Jan. 15, 2021, in Bella Vista, Ark.

He was born June 28, 1932, in Taylor, Ark. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1950, where he played football for the Panthers. During high school, he started working in the oilfields in the summers for McAlester Fuel Company. He attended Magnolia A&M College and then married Mary Narcissus McDaniel. He had a long and successful career in the oil industry, spanning 35 years. He moved home to Arkansas from Parker, Colo., in 1993, where he pursued his passion for golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Overton Scott, Helen (Norman) Scott; and daughter-in-law, Tammy (Striegel) Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Ross Scott of Shreveport, La., Shannon Siebert (Lowell) of Henderson, Neb., Melissa Albert (Darryl) of Golden, Colo., Robert Scott of Grand Junction, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Sarah Jane Vandergon

Sarah Jane "Sally" Vandergon died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, in Bella Vista, Ark.

She was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Walter H. and Edith (Bates) Brooks. She married Keith Vandergon on Sept. 9, 1945, and they spent most of their married life in Grand Forks, N.D. After the 1997 flood, they moved to Bella Vista and enjoyed a short time there together before Keith died in December 2000.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry L. Brooks; sister, Mary E. Ross; and son, Douglas Vandergon.

She is survived by sons, David (Carol), Devils Lake, N.D., Dirk (Joyce Burkholder), Reno, Nev.; and four grandchildren.

Carolyn Lenore Walsh

Carolyn Lenore Walsh, 84, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Jan. 20, 2021.

She was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Carl and Mary Margaret Townsend. She was a retired business owner of Buddy Foods. She was a member of Village Baptist Church, serving in the church library.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Fred; her sister, Sandra.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George "Bud" Walsh of Bella Vista; her daughter, Cheryl Barbee; her sister, Sharron (Don) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Cliff Howard, Dan Walsh; and seven grandchildren

A celebration of life was held Jan. 26, 2021, at Village Baptist Church.
