Wall of Honor Event scheduled March 29

The Veterans Council of Northwest Arkansas was hosting a free public patriotic event at the Veterans Wall of Honor Memorial Sunday, March 29 (National Vietnam War Veterans Day), which was to be a one-hour event with prayer, patriotic music, honor guard and a guest speaker, Vietnam Veteran Mark Lloyd of Bella Vista, who wrote several books on this subject. This event has been canceled in concern of the covid-19 pandemic.

Retired Nurses of NWA -- The Retired Nurses of Northwest Arkansas will NOT meet on March 31, 2020, because of concerns regarding the coronavirus and social distancing. At this time, the next meeting will be June 30th. For more information, please call 630-659-6925 or 479-715-6352.

Bella Vista Garden Club Postpones Benefit Card Party -- Out of concern for the health of all participants given the spread of covid-19, the Bella Vista Garden Club is postponing its Benefit Card Party scheduled for Friday, March 20. A new date will be established as soon as circumstances permit. Refunds will not be issued at this time. NAGS -- Due to the covid-19, the March 23 meeting has been canceled.

Calico Cut-Ups -- Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild executive committee has decided to cancel all guild activities for the rest of March. This includes small group meetings as well as the regular meeting and workshop scheduled for March 23.

BV Men's Chorus -- Because of recent health concerns, the Bella Vista Men's Chorus Spring Concert scheduled for April 5, 2020, has been canceled, along with all rehearsals. Currently, the plan is to resume rehearsals on April 20 for the fall concert.

Business Association Riordan Hall Spring Bazaar scheduled for Saturday, April 18 has been canceled.

City of Bella Vista

The spring appliance pickup has been postponed to a date to be determined at a later time. Republic Services has also suspended its weekly bulk item pickup. All residents are encouraged to be sure their trash is bagged and placed inside the provided trash cart. No other trash will be collected.

Bella Vista annual Citywide Garage Sale scheduled for April 24 and 25 has been canceled.

Due to covid-19 concerns, the Bella Vista Farmers Market opening day has been postponed until further notice.

Updates and Changes effective March 17, 2020

As a continued precaution due to the health and safety measures noted by President Trump, governing health agencies and Governor Asa Hutchinson, here are updates regarding the POA:

• Meet the Candidates Night has been tentatively postponed until 6 p.m. April 7 at Riordan Hall

• The Member Services, Water Department, Maintenance and Construction offices will be closed to public access but the staff will be answering calls and emails. Many items can be handled online or by calling:

• BV Bar & Grill (479-855-5117) and Lakepoint (479-855-8110) will have curbside service and delivery (through Bite Squad) available but the dining rooms will be closed. All banquets and large events have been canceled. Highlands Pub will be closed.

• The fitness facilities (Branchwood, Metfield, Riordan) will be closed.

• The Marina opens with limited hours and a limit of 10 or fewer people allowed in the office at one time.

• Tennis remains the same but has a limit of 10 or fewer people in the pro shop at one time.

• Golf remains the same but has a limit of 10 or fewer people in the pro shop at one time.

• Pro Shops that sell alcohol will only have canned beer for sale.

• All event and committee (JAC) meetings are canceled until further notice; the Board Work Session has been canceled.

• Most park restrooms will be closed.

The POA continues to monitor the actions and requests of the State of Arkansas and will keep the public updated as new information is released that impacts the POA.

Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area -- Due to covid-19, all Arkansas State Park programs have been canceled through May 13th. Please note that all media inquiries regarding the cancelation of Arkansas State Park programming due to covid-19 need to be directed to Melissa Whitfield, chief of communications of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism.

Pea Ridge National Military Park's -- The Visitor Center, as of March 18, is closed until further notice. Where it is possible to adhere to the latest health guidance, the remainder of the park will remain open to provide healthy options for the public, including the tour road, and hiking and horseback trails. As a way to continue to enjoy your park online, visit the park website at www.nps.gov/peri, which provides park updates and history. Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus. Please check with individual parks for specific details about park operations.

Shiloh Museum of Ozark History -- As a public health precaution due to covid-19 (coronavirus), effective Monday, March 16, the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History will be closed to the public and is suspending programs, events, public meeting room use, and outreach through the end of April. "We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to determine in mid-April, dependent on the public health risk, whether to resume programming and reopen the museum," said museum director Allyn Lord. "Since museum staff members will continue to work during the closure, researchers may call or email the museum with questions about our regional history," added Lord.
