Howard "Bud" C. Davis

Howard "Bud" C. Davis, 90, died Dec. 19, 2020, at a Fayetteville, Ark., hospital as the result of a drowning accident.

He was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Watson M. and Mildred VanWert-Davis. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon, Iowa, High School in 1948 and Cornell College in 1952. He worked his entire career at Metropolitan Life. He was married to Audrey Burnett from 1950 until her passing in 2010. He married Mary Foldberg in 2012. He enjoyed traveling and had a love/hate relationship with golf. But most of all he loved to fish. A longtime resident of Tulsa and most recently Bella Vista, Ark., he was an early member of Highlands United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Sam Davis (Sue), Scott Davis (Debbie), Barbara Anderson; three grandchildren; step-children, Bill and Cindy Haynie, Tory, and Peggy Sjogren.

George V. Hutchens

George V. Hutchens, 95, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, in Bella Vista, Ark.

He was born Jan. 28, 1925, in Scott City, Kan., to John Edgar and Martha Ann Dorsett Hutchens. He entered active service with the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944, where he was a 2nd Lieutenant pilot/flight engineer for B25 and B29 Aircraft. In 1945, he came home long enough to marry Eleanor Joann Winters. After being discharged in 1946, he attended Friends University in Wichita, Kan., graduating in 1951. He was a coach/teacher for 11 years, coaching both high school and college football and then worked 29 years with the American Red Cross. In Bella Vista, he served in many capacities on many boards. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, theater and the UA women's basketball and track.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Joann Hutchens; and son, George Michael Hutchens.

Survivors include sons, Pat Hutchens (Sue), Kevin Hutchens (Lori), Kelly Hutchens; six grandchildren; and his 105-year-old sister, Juanita Purkey of Valley Center, Kan.
