Amateur Radio Club

The Bella Vista Area Radio Club has begun online meetings while in-person monthly meetings are temporarily suspended. Anyone interested in amateur radio should "tune in" to the club's YouTube Live webcasts at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Links to the YouTube Channel and the club's Facebook Group are at www.BellaVistaRadioClub.org. License exams have also been temporarily suspended. Village Lake Writers

Village Lake Writers and Poets meet monthly from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. The meetings include a featured author, book talks, writing workshops, lively discussions and readings. The spring author series will include David Todd on April 8, Gail Cowdin on May 13, and Molly Owens on June 10. This spring and summer, the club will be at various locations throughout Bella Vista. Check its Facebook page, Village Lake Writers and Poets, for announcements and locations. Meetings are free and open to the public. s The Bella Vista Bluebird Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a photo contest and a celebration at the Lake Avalon beach Saturday, April 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. The photo contest is open to anyone and individuals may submit up to four total photos, including two color and two black and white, by the Sept. 14 deadline. Entry information can be found on the society's website at http://bvbluebirds.com. These photos can include any other species but must include a bluebird and there will be a first-, second- and third-place award for color, as well as black and white, photos. Winners will be announced in October.
