Historical Museum News

Annual Open House

Be sure to mark Sunday, Oct. 27, on your calendar for our annual open house at the museum, starting at 2 p.m. This year we will also include the grand opening of our historic Settler's Cabin. Free food indoors and outdoors, and door prizes available. The Southern Strings, an instrumental musical group, will perform at 2:30 p.m. inside the museum. Admission is free to all the afternoon's events.

Paisley Cottage

One of the old Linebarger summer resort era cottages, the Paisley cottage, which has seen the ravages of time over the years, is destined to be torn down. We are grateful to receive furniture from the owners of that cottage for our Settler's Cabin. They also gave us the Paisley name sign that hung over the front door of the cottage for nearly 100 years, which is now on display inside the museum. We certainly appreciate their donations.

Civil War Roundtable

The next Bella Vista Civil War Roundtable will be held at the museum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, with Matt Mulheran speaking on the Battle of Prairie Grove. We are pleased with the interest shown in these programs and welcome anyone who wants to attend. No dues are requires and admission is free.

Flea in the Park

We thank everyone who stopped by our table at the Flea in the Park last Saturday. Our next event will be the Holiday Bazaar at Riordan on Saturday, Nov. 9, so please look for us again there. At these events, we display a variety of merchandise from our gift shop, from Bella Vista souvenirs to locally produced honey.
