LETTER: Gratitude to Community

The Bella Vista Community Concert Band's 35th season was spectacular! We did not have to cancel one concert because of rain or being too hot and we had outstanding food to offer our wonderful crowds!

After the July 4th concert, the band was contacted by a caring couple that stated they appreciated the contribution we make to our community and wished to show their support in two ways. First, by an outright gift of $2,500 with no strings attached. Second, a challenge grant of another $2,500, whereby they would match dollar-for-dollar monies raised by the band. We began announcing it at all our concerts and articles in the Weekly Vista. Thanks to Lynn Atkins for the article she wrote with the help of Don Dragland that appeared in the Sept. 18 paper.

I am happy to announce that we reached our goal with the last $400 arriving this week. We could have never done this without your wonderful support. The band is truly humbled by all this support. The band members are so lucky to have the Bella Vista Community Band to continue its love for playing as a band. The other outstanding part is a community that truly supports and loves what we do. My hope is, if you have not come to one of our concerts, you will plan to attend one next summer for a delightful evening. Our first concert will be in early May.

Our final performance of the 2019 season will be our "Christmas Concert" on Saturday, Dec. 14, starting at 3 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church at 79 Lancashire Blvd. Mark your calendars and we look forward to bringing you a little Christmas joy!

With heartfelt gratitude,
