Bella Vista Baptist Church

Bella Vista Baptist Church is pleased to welcome its new senior pastor, Brent Summerhill and his wife Cindy. Brent was in staff ministry from 1987-1991 and then served as a senior pastor for 28 years. Cindy was a school teacher for 29 years. They have two children. Daughter Lauren is married and is an attorney in Little Rock. Son Hayden is married and serves as assistant director of admissions at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The public is invited to join in welcoming the Summerhills to Bella Vista and Bella Vista Baptist Church.

Highland Christian Church

Sunday, Nov. 17, there will be a special Thanksgiving Fellowship Meal following the morning service. Ham and turkey will be provided by the elders, and everyone is asked to bring a dish that would go along with the meal. This meal is open to all attending Sunday services.

Bella Vista Community Church

BVCC enjoyed having over 400 in attendance at the first annual "It's Fall Y'all" Family Fun Festival! Parents and children enjoyed hot dogs, popcorn, candy, games, and more. Thank you to all volunteers who helped make this event a success.

BVCC will host a presentation by the Benton County Sheriff's Office called Parents Night Out on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. Discussion includes the dangers children face online and how to proactively protect them. Light refreshments are served. No children are permitted due to the subject matter. Sign up in advance online only at bvcc.net. Click on the News & Events tab then Parents Night Out.

Unity Church of the Ozarks

The Rev. Elise Cowan's message, "The Sabbath was Made for Man," will be shared at the Unity service Sunday, Nov 17, at 10:30 a.m. Following the service and refreshments, there will be "New Member Sunday" for those joining Unity church. All are invited.

Unity Church of the Ozarks will hold a grand opening from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20. The invitation to everyone is open to help celebrate the Unity Church grand opening. There will be live music and hors d'oeuvres.

Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Nov. 27, at 7 p.m., will be the start-up of a class entitled "Metaphysical Meetup." Discussions will include the "Science of Being, That Which Transcends the Physical."

Forest Hills Church

Ladies Inspirational Book Club meets on Nov. 13 at 1:45. The theme is to read an inspirational suspense book.

The message for Sunday, Nov. 17, is "Empty the Field," based on Matthew 9: 35-38. Pastor Mark Kirby will bring the morning message at 10:45.

Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Nov. 13, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

Sunday, Nov. 17, Pastor Mark and Associate Pastor Al will continue the sermon series titled "Faith That Makes A Difference" Discoveries in the Letter of James.

Village Baptist Church will be the meeting place of an Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. The group is facilitated by Betsy Broyles Arnold. Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, Nov. 17, will be a discussion of "Grateful," a talk written by Unitarian minister Abbey Tennis, First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia.

Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista

PCBV will offer a workshop called "Prior Proper Planning" at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Guest speakers will share information about estates, wills, funeral arrangements and charitable giving. Church members should sign up in the connector hallway. Community members can call the church office, 479-855-2390, to let the church know they plan to attend. All are welcome.

The next Women's Book Club meets at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the church parlor. The theme for November is non-fiction. There will also be a book exchange. Bella Vista Lutheran Church

All singers are welcome to join in the mass choir to sing Handel's Messiah. The choir practices are on Saturdays at 10 a.m. The Celebration Choir and Orchestra will perform "The Messiah" at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.

GriefShare meets at 3 p.m. every Thursday in the church library. If you have lost a loved one recently, this is a wonderful support group.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. It is collecting items for the upcoming holidays and requests canned sweet potatoes, cream of mushroom soup, pure pumpkin, evaporated milk and canned cranberry sauce. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

There will be a Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m. Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

Highlands Church

The 31st annual Cookie Walk, sponsored by Highlands Church, will take place Saturday, Dec. 7, at 371 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista. The doors open at 8 a.m. The "walk" begins at 8:30 and lasts until 11 a.m. or until all the cookies are gone. Those who visit the Cookie Walk may also enjoy a Coffee Shoppe, Sweet Shoppe, Soups-to-Go, and Hand-Made Crafts for holiday gift-giving. The cost per can is $12. First come, first served. First United Methodist Church

Dr. Cole Burger will present a piano recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Sanctuary. He currently serves as Instructor in the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University. Dr. Burger holds degrees in piano performance and economics from Northwestern University and the University of Texas. He has performed in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as a First Place Winner of the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, in addition to prestigious venues throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He will be performing selections from J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Albéniz, Price, Dun, and Bryant. He was the very first performing artist to appear in the Wesley Series many years ago. This is a free concert, open to everyone.

Walking through the Dark: A Practical Guide to Holiday Grief led by the Rev. Brenda Wideman, will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12th in the Chapel. Time will be spent looking at grief during the holidays and giving suggestions for dealing with it at this time of year. Discussion and sharing of stories are encouraged. The session finishes with words of Hope, Encouragement, and Remembrance. All are welcome.

A grandparents support group has formed for grandparents who are raising grandchildren. They meet the second and fourth Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Parlor. Are you raising your grandson or granddaughter? This probably wasn't in your greater plan, and you are not alone. A "support" group has been formed just for you! The Rev. Jim Rowland is facilitating this group and welcomes all to meet other grandparents who are in the same position as you. Share stories, concerns, questions, joys, second chances, and hope with others. If you aren't raising your grandkids, but know someone who is, please invite them to be a part of this group. This is an on-going support group and is open to all in the community. Bring a friend.

Prayer shawl ministry meets on Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Parlor. Come for an hour of visiting and stitching. If you would like to learn how to knit, they will be happy to instruct you. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and other circumstances. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Two weekly meetings of AA are being hosted at the church on Monday and Saturday. Please call or stop by the church for more information.
