First United Methodist Church

A piano recital with church organist Broc Hite will be given at noon Sunday, March 10, in Becker Hall. It's Almost Spring will feature works of Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Hite will also lead an Irish sing-a-long at noon Sunday, March 17, in Becker Hall, featuring favorite Irish tunes from the past. All are welcome.

Aluminum can pull tabs are being collected by the Scouts for the Ronald McDonald House charities through the middle of April. There are collection boxes in the narthex, Becker Hall and the office.

Lenten worship services will be held at 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday through April 16, with a light lunch following.

Two weekly meetings of AA are hosted at the church on Mondays and Saturdays. Please call or stop by the church for more information.

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on from 10 to 11 a.m. every Friday in the parlor. Spend an hour to visit and stitch. This group welcomes beginner knitters and will teach. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and in other circumstances. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Bella Vista Community Church

The Bella Vista Community Church has announced that it will launch the first Royal Family Kids Camp for kids in Northwest Arkansas this summer. RFK is a national organization with a mission to confront abuse and change lives. This one-week Christian camp for children in foster care, ages 7-11, is run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. For more information, visit 390.rfk.org.

Lenten soup suppers and meditations are held in McKay Hall each Wednesday, through April 10. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. Meditations begin at 6:20 p.m. Suggested donation is $3 per person or $5 per family. Please call the church office to sign up.

Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, March 17: Discussion of "Desire," a talk by Rev. Darcy Laine, Unitarian Universalist Church of Cortland, NY.

Sunday, March 24: "I Want," a homily written by Sarah Richards, Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship, delivered by Julie Jensen.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

For the season of Lent, there will be a church service at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Prior to the service, there will be a light supper served, starting at 5:15 p.m. All are welcome.

On March 31 Bella Vista Lutheran Church will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. Items for Easter are being collected at this time: boxed chicken stuffing, canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup, boxed potatoes, canned fruit cocktail, boxed yellow or white cake mix, orange or cherry Jello. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista

The Knit, Crochet, Chat, and Pray group meets at 1 p.m. on Fridays in the PCBV office lobby. Bring a current project with you. Call the church office for more information at 479-855-2390.

The next Women's Book Club meeting is at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 28, in the church parlor. This month's theme: Read a Book about a Famous Couple. For more information, call the church office at 479-855-2390. All women in the community are invited.

Highlands Church (United Methodist)

The next blood drive organized by the HUMMERS (Highlands United Methodist Men) is scheduled for 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 13. A free cholesterol screening is available, and remember to drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive. A photo ID is required.

Highlands Church will host a GriefShare class beginning March 21. GriefShare is a grief recovery support group which offers help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. GriefShare is held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursdays in the Mark Classroom for a 13-week session. Contact the church office at 479-855-2277 for more information.

The next 10-week session of Flex 'N Stretch starts Monday, March 25, at Highlands Church. Classes meet at 7:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Peter Classroom. Its mission is to challenge, encourage and promote better health through physical exercise. You can attend one lesson, all 30 lessons, or somewhere in between. Flex 'N Stretch is a wellness program of activities which provides a higher quality of life through responsible movement that is pain-free and possible for all participants. The program teaches all participants, including seniors, how to do the exercises easily and safely. Benefits include increased range of motion, coordination, strength, balance and agility, all of which improve the quality of life and lead to longer independent living. Village Bible Church

Bible 101 class is being offered by the Village Bible Church -- a free, no-strings-attached 4-week class on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to introduce people to the Bible. Week 2 of the class is Monday, March 18. There are many people, even church attendees, who would like to know more about the Bible but don't know where or how to start. This startup class will cover topics such as: who authored the Bible and how did it come to be as we know it; how do I choose which Bible to read and study (translations/paraphrases; can I trust the Bible to be true; what is the best way to start for someone new to reading the Bible. The class is open to all ages and backgrounds with no pre-registration required. Bibles will be available to those who don't have one. Village Bible Church is located at 1591 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista.

Wednesday, March 11, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

Sunday, March 17, Pastor Mark Voll will continue the sermon series titled "Discovering the Real Jesus." Part 2 of the sermon series this Sunday is "Sinless Perfection" with selected New Testament texts.

Village Baptist Church

Village Baptist Church will host the John Brown University Cathedral Choir as it kicks off the spring tour with a concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 15. The concert is free and open to the public. Bella Vista Christian Fellowship

Richard Solberg, a retired pastor, is now conducting worship services each Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel at St. Bernard Catholic church on W. Lancashire Blvd. This group is called the Bella Vista Christian Fellowship. The non-denominational services are open to all.

This fellowship group has recently begun an outreach action to Seven Hills, the social service agency serving the homeless in Fayetteville. Goods like food, sleeping bags, tents and backpacks will soon begin flowing to the needy there. For more information, contact Pastor Solberg at 479-268-4103.
