Operation Good Morning provides a sense of security

BELLA VISTA -- The Bella Vista Police Department has upgraded its Operation Good Morning program in order to better serve the city's residents.

Operation Good Morning is a phone notification system, established in Bella Vista, to assist senior citizens and people with disabilities, health or other issues who live alone.

Program participants receive an automated phone call each day at a time of the participant's choosing. The individual answers the call and follows instructions to press a number and then hangs up, alerting the system that all is well.

If the individual does not answer, the system will try again. After repeated failures, police dispatchers will be notified and an officer will be sent to the residence to check on the individual.

Participants can choose times between 5 and 10 a.m. each day, and calls can be placed to either a landline or cell phone. There is no cost for the program.

For further information or to register, call the Bella Vista Police Department at 479-855-3771, email [email protected], or sign up online at www.bellavistaar.gov/bvpdservices.
