Bella Vista Lutheran Church

Griefshare classes will begin on Aug. 29, with an orientation "short" class on Thursday, Aug. 22. The meetings will be at 3 p.m. each Thursday in the church library, with the 13 weeks of study ending on Nov. 22. Each meeting will last approximately two hours. Classes are open to everyone and are especially helpful for those with a recent loss of a loved one. Signup sheets can be found on the entryway kiosk, or call the church office at 479-855-0272 to register. This will allow for the proper number of books to be ordered. Attendees receive the $15 books free, though a donation is welcome. For further information, please contact Dorothy Jones on her cellphone at 479-366-1700 or at home 479-855-7295.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. The pantry is in need of healthy cereal in boxes. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

On July 23, "Different Strokes for Different Folks" will meet at 2 p.m. The group exists to share ideas, learn from others, problem solve, and socialize with caregivers and stroke and brain injury survivors.

On July 14 and again on July 21, the "Sonday Riders" will gather for a day trip at 2 p.m. Sonday Riders invites all two-, three- and four-wheel modes of transportation to join in on the day of fun, food and fellowship.

Forest Hills Church

Sunday, July 21, -- 9 a.m., coffee and fellowship; 9:45 a.m, Christian education; 10:45 a.m., morning worship with Pastor Mark Kirby bringing the morning message, "Look Up" based on Psalm 8:1-9.

First United Methodist Church

The Arkansas Musicworks Brass Band will be playing a concert in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 28. This band of thirty locals will be playing songs by John Higgins, Karl King, Jay Shepherd, Samuel Ward and more. The Arkansas Musicworks Brass Band won first place at the U.S. Open Brass Band Championships and third place in the Dublin Festival of Brass. Admission is free and all are invited. First United Methodist Church Bella Vista is located at 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista.

Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday, July 21st through Thursday, July 25th from 6:30-8 p.m. for ages Pre-K through fifth Grade. The Theme this year is "To Mars and Beyond -- Explore Where God's Power Can Take You." Register at lovelearnlead.com..

United Methodist Women will hold its annual Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3.

A Grandparent's Support Group has formed for grandparents who are raising grandchildren. Meetings take place at 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Sunday of each month in the Parlor. Are you raising your grandson or granddaughter? This probably wasn't in your greater plan, and you are not alone. Do you feel frustrated? Isolated? Out of your element? A "support" group has been formed just for you! Rev. Jim Rowland facilitates the group and the invitation is for everyone to meet other grandparents who are in the same position. Share stories, concerns, questions, joys, second chances, and hope with others.

Caregivers Support - This group, which has met for several years at Village House in Bella Vista, has moved its meetings to First United Methodist Church. Meetings are from 12:00-2:00pm on the first Thursday of every month. August 1st there will be a panel discussion of the various types of care-giving. Caregivers are welcome to bring those they care for as there are trained volunteers to watch over them during the meeting.

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at 10 am. on Fridays in the Parlor - an hour of visiting and stitching. Anyone interested in learning to knit, this group is for you. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and other circumstances. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Two weekly meetings of AA are hosted at the church on Monday and Saturday. Please call or stop by the church for more information.

Highlands Church (United Methodist Congregation)

The next blood drive, organized by HUMMERS (Highlands United Methodist Men), is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 24. Help make a difference in the community by giving blood. Free cholesterol screening will be offered. Eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive. A photo ID will be required. All participants will receive a free T-shirt. Bella Vista Community Church

A new men's fellowship group begins Monday, July 22, and will be held at Papa Mike's Restaurant from 8 to 9 a.m. Please call the church office to sign up, call 479-640-6034 for more information, or sign up at the information center on Sunday morning.

Unity Church of the Ozarks

"Spiritual Healing" message will be presented by Rev Elise Cowan at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 21, followed by refreshments.

The church offers a Wednesday night class, 7 to 8:15 p.m., which studies "Heart-Centered Metaphysics" by Paul Hasselbeck, co-facilitated by the Rev. Elise Cowan and Kent Lowery. Study topics such as evolving spiritual awareness, our purpose and divine guidance are covered with a different subject discussed each week. All are invited to these studies. A 10-minute meditation follows the class.

Village Bible Church

Wednesday, July 17, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

On Sunday, July 21, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Mark Voll will continue the sermon series titled "Waiting for Christ." This Sunday's sermon is titled "Judgment and Justice are Coming," with a text of 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12.
