Mark your calendar for special election

Bella Vista residents, there will be a special election coming up on March 12, to raise the sales tax by 0.125 percent (1/8 of a cent) within Benton County. If passed, this will help pay for the county's new four-floor courthouse on N.E. Second Street (Between 21c and the Historical Courthouse).

There will be two chances for you to make it to a town hall hosted by Judge Barry Moehring. The first one will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Riordan Hall.

The second one will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Bella Vista District Court.

There will also be eight other town halls across Benton County between Feb. 5 and March 5.

Early voting will take place March 5 through 8, and March 11 at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be other Benton County early voting sites also, such as the Benton County Clerk's Office.

On actual voting day, March 12, you will be able to vote at Fire Station #1, New Life Christian Church, Highlands Methodist Church, St. Bernard Catholic Church, Bella Vista Church of Christ, and 28 other locations around Benton County.

If you would like, please contact your Justice of the Peace representative and let him or her know your thoughts. For Western Bella Vista, contact Michelle Chiocco. As of Jan. 29, Eastern Bella Vista is currently without a representative, though the Governor will be appointing someone soon.

I encourage all Bella Vista registered voters to show up and make their voice heard, just like you did on Nov. 6.

Thank you,

Dylan Shaddox
