Village Bible Church

Wednesday, April 10, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

Pastor Mark Voll will continue his sermon series, "Discovering the Real Jesus." Part 6 of the sermon series this Sunday is titled "King Jesus," with a text of John 12:9-19.

Thursday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. an AARP Driver Safety Class will be held in the Oasis Center at the church. To register, call 479-855-3076.

Friday, April 19, a Good Friday Worship Service, with communion, will be held at 6:30 p.m. The community is warmly invited to attend.

The annual community Mother's Day gettogether is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, this year. Go Tell It on the Mountain guest speaker will be Linda Apple and singers will include Sue Voll and friends. Bring a daughter, neighbor, mother, sister or friend and also enjoy lunch at this beautiful fellowship. There is no charge, but a ticket is required which is available at the church each Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, April 14 through May 7. A free-will offering will be received. Bella Vista Community Church

The last Lenten Soup Supper and Meditation is Wednesday, April 10, in McKay Hall. Spaghetti is served at 5:30 p.m. Meditation begins at 6:20 p.m. Suggested donation is $3/person or $5/family. Please call the church office to sign up.

Highlands Church (United Methodist)

Highlands Church will host a Community Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13. All are welcome.

The Highlands Church welcomes everyone to the following services.

Celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem for a Palm Service at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Saturday Celebration Service, or at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 14, in the traditional service, or at 11:15 a.m. Sunday in the Gathering Service. There will be a Palm Parade for children at the 9:30 a.m. traditional service.

A Stations of the Cross service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 19. The Stations service is a powerful way to contemplate and enter into the mystery of Jesus' gift of Himself to us. The service involves our senses and our emotions as we experience the love of Jesus in a new and deep way. The Stations service will be in the sanctuary and does not require walking.

Easter will be celebrated at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday morning, April 21; therefore, there will be no Saturday service on April 20.

Mark your calendars for The Highlands Flea and Boutique to be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27. This annual event is held at Highlands Church and hosted by the United Methodist Women. All proceeds are donated to local women's and children's charities. Items for sale will include household, linens, collectibles, jewelry, furniture, books, lawn and garden items, as well as coffee shop and bakery items. If you wish to sell your own items for profit, make a reservation for an outside space by calling 479-855-2277.

Forest Hills Church

Forest Hills Church will begin Sunday evening services on Sunday, April 14. A Musical Revelation Celebration, featuring the band All In and The McCaffertys, will lead the service, beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, call the church office at 479-855-3555.

Village Baptist Church

Village Baptist Church will present a Good Friday service at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. Friday, April 19. People of all faiths are invited to attend as the events of that original Friday are recalled and considered.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

The last Wednesday Lenten worship service will be at 6 p.m. April 10. Prior to the service, a light supper will be served at 5:15 p.m.

On April 14, Palm Sunday, there will be only one worship service at 9:30 a.m. There will be three young adults confirming their faith at this service.

Services for Maundy Thursday, April 18, and Good Friday, April 19, will be at 6 p.m.

Easter Sunday services are at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon. It will be giving food for Easter dinner this Friday. A container for donations is in the church narthex.

Unitarian Universalists

Sunday, April 14: April's Restoration theme continues with a discussion of "Restoration As Living Tradition."

First United Methodist Church

Children's Ministry will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13, for youngsters through sixth grade. Activities will include an egg hunt for toddlers through fourth grade and a scavenger hunt for fifth and sixth graders. There will also be crafts for every age, games, and a photo booth for selfies with the Easter Bunny.

A Grief Support Group, facilitated by Rev. Brenda Wideman, meets at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday through April 30 in the Chapel. All are welcome who feel this group might help them in recovering from a situation of grief.

United Methodist Men will hold its annual Spring Pancake Breakfast from 6 to 11:30 am. Friday, April 26, to accommodate those who want to get an early start at the BV citywide garages sale. The breakfast is $6 and includes pancakes, sausage or ham, applesauce and drink. Children 5 and under eat free. The United Methodist Women will also hold a holiday bazaar in conjunction with the pancake breakfast.

A new Grandparents Support Group is being formed for grandparents who are raising grandchildren. The initial meeting will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the parlor. You are invited to speak with others who may be in the same situation you may be in. If there is enough interest, this will become an ongoing support group and is open to all in the community.

Holy Week worship services begin with Palm Sunday, April 14, at normal service times of 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 10:45 a.m. A Lenten worship service at 11:45 a.m., followed by a light lunch, will be held on Tuesday, April 16. Maundy Thursday services will be held at 6:30 a.m. April 18. Two Good Friday Services will be held at 11:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held on the Church's upper deck, beginning at 6:45 a.m. Other Easter services will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. (traditional services) in the sanctuary. A contemporary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in Becker Hall. All are welcome.

The chancel choir and chancel handbell choir are looking for new members. The Chancel Bells meet in the Music Room at 3:15 p.m. each Wednesday, and the chancel choir meets at 4:45 p.m. in the sanctuary. If you would like to join either of these groups or need more information, please contact Larry Zehring, director of music ministries, at 479-855-1158.

Two weekly meetings of AA are hosted at the church on Monday and Saturday. Please call or stop by the church for more information.
