The Bella Vista Community Church will be hosting a presentation by speaker Carie O'Banion, a retired Bentonville school teacher and librarian, of her 400-mile pilgrimage walk across Spain at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the church, located at 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista.

Carie O'Banion heard about the walk or, as it is better known, the "Camino de Santiago," when she was following a friend's blog. O'Banion and her friend, Beth Haller, chose a route that began in France, and they walked more than 400-miles in approximately five weeks. The Camino de Santiago is actually a series of routes that lead to the site where St. James was buried. During the middle ages, people took pilgrimages as penance. Today, many pilgrims are looking for a spiritual experience.

Carie O’Banion will talk about her 400-mile pilgrimage through France and Spain at the Bella Vista Community Church on Saturday, April 20, at 9 a.m.

She will display many photos of people she encountered, as well as Spanish topography, churches and villages. The Camino de Santiago was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for the two friends.

Questions will be entertained and light refreshments will be served. The event was rescheduled due to inclement weather in January. Sign up today for this enjoyable presentation. There is no admission charge, and everyone is welcome to attend with sign-up. For more information or to sign up, call the Community Church at 479-855-1126.
