Bella Vista has a hit with Scotsdale course

Over the last 50 years, whenever I wrote a letter to the editor, it was for the purpose of criticizing something or another concerning golf or the Bella Vista Property Owners Association. My first letter was about the POA raising the monthly dues from $5 to $7 a month and raising the daily golf fee from zero to $1 per round (it was going to kill the golf in BV). There were many other nonsensical letters over those years now that I look back.

As I mentally write this letter I am standing at the window overlooking the No. 1 tee box on the beautiful country club enjoying a drink. As I look at the tee boxes, I am reminded that when I first golfed here I started on the black tees and have now advanced forward four tee boxes, which means that I am on the reds. I am still shooting about the same score, and can say that I am still enjoying it.

Speaking of enjoying, my wife, my dogs and I take a weekly ride around the renovated Scotsdale golf course. The fairways and tees are immaculate and the greens are probably two weeks away from being pristine. The new No. 12 green looks like it belongs on the tour with its slight undulations and very gradual slope (good riddance to a bad memory).

Golfers and non-golfers alike, come out for an evening ride around the course: You are in for a beautiful treat.
