ARC hosting two renowned guitarists

The Artist Retreat Center in Bella Vista will present internationally renowned guitarists Peter Janson and Aaron Larget-Caplan at 7 p.m. Friday, March 17. Award-winning Arkansas finger-style guitarist Steve Davison will open.

"A World of Guitar: Virtuoso Guitar Music from Six Continents" introduces guitar music from around the world performed by two of America's top solo guitarists, Stone Records recording artist Aaron Larget-Caplan and EWM Records recording artist Peter Janson.

Janson and Larget-Caplan present the highest level of artistry, technical mastery and emotive qualities of the acoustic guitar with sonic landscape and evocative mood. They draw from the rich variety of cultures as expressed in its guitar music-- songs that cross genres with styles ranging from Americana and Celtic to classical and flamenco, to world-jazz-fusion.

Aaron Larget-Caplan is an international touring and recording artist. He has performed solo and with chamber orchestras in Russia, Europe and across the United States at venues that include El Palacio de Linares (Madrid, Spain), Yelagin and Sheremetev Palaces and the St. Petersburg Conservatory (Russia), Mantova Chamber Music Festival, Corte Eremo and Castillo de Galeazza (Italy).

In addition to performing and composing, Larget-Caplan, who studied for seven years with Russian guitarist Dmitry Goryachev, is on the faculty of University of Massachusetts-Boston.

He has premiered over 65 solo and chamber compositions, including commissioned pieces, directed concert series and has worked to bring classical music to schools and community settings. He is well known for connecting with his audiences with a Bernstein-esque ease.

Peter Janson is an award-winning contemporary finger-style acoustic guitarist, composer, and music educator. He has performed at a variety of venues including the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Healdsburg (CA) Guitar Festival and the WUMB Music Festival in Boston. He has had three albums in the Top Five of the NAR radio charts and his recordings have over one-million BMI verified broadcasts across all media.

His music fuses jazz, classical and world-folk styles, blending passion, artistry and technical mastery as he weaves songs about life and the heart. His talent has earned him much critical acclaim.
