CBCO blood drive in Bella Vista set for Dec. 20

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is the sole local provider of blood for patients at 40 area hospitals in southwest Missouri, northwest Arkansas and southeast Kansas. Sick and injured hospital patients depend on CBCO donors to provide the lifesaving blood they need.

Negative blood types are at low levels. O negative, A negative and B negative blood is in short supply, with less than a two-day reserve level for those types. Blood donors of these types are strongly urged to give soon at a CBCO blood drive or donor center.

A blood drive is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Allen's Food Market, 60 Sugar Creek Center, Bella Vista.

Each donation will be awarded LifePoints as a part of CBCO's donor rewards program. LifePoints may be redeemed online for a variety of gift cards, or points may be assigned to other meaningful causes or charities. More information on the LifePoints donor rewards program may be found at www.cbco.org.

Participants at any CBCO blood drive between the dates of Dec. 11 and Dec. 31 will receive a free long-sleeved shirt as a thank you gift. These shirts carry a very special holiday message.

To be eligible to give blood, donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo identification. For more information about giving blood, visit www.cbco.org or call toll-free 1-800-280-5337.
