Eating pancakes, helping others

On behalf of the men of First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, I want to thank the people who so graciously gave of their time on Saturday, May 1, to attend our semi-annual pancake breakfast. Especially, I want to thank all who worked so hard and gave of their time. They all made it possible.

Everyone who attended or worked, in whatever way they contributed, made it possible for us to provide financial support to the local charities we support. Our proceeds from the breakfast, less our expenses, are contributed to these charities. Everyone involved has helped to support these local organizations that usually do not get much assistance from anyone other than local supporters.

Most cannot imagine how the efforts bless the people in the organizations we support. Let me cite a very simple example. One of the organizations we support is Horses for Healing Help. Picture the children who come to ride the horses. All of them must have someone hold them while they ride. They feel that horse walking and moving beneath them. As the horse walks around the track, you should see the look on these young people's faces. This is probably the closest they will ever come to the sensation of walking themselves. What a blessing. This is only one example. All of the charities we contribute to, in one way or another, provide blessings to people who would otherwise not have them.

I just hope each person involved experiences the same kind of feeling when they give to help us support the less fortunate.

We cannot do it without them. We hope they join us again, but next time, they can think of what they are giving others.

God bless you all.
