Bella Vista Kiwanis

Bella Vista Kiwanis enjoyed Teresa Frihart's presentation on the Kiwanis camp under construction on 160 acres in central Arkansas. Updates on a scholarship selection for Bentonville, Gravette, Ambassadors for Christ, Cooper Elementary K-Kids, which collected 11 carts of groceries for 2 Bella Vista food pantries, and Terrific Kids was provided.

The Kiwanis breakfast meeting is at Concordia, at 7 a.m. on Thursdays. The meeting May 7 will be at Highland Crossing at 8:30 a.m. to unload plants and set up for the Annual Hanging Plant Sale. Visitors are always welcome.

Beta Sigma Phi

The Iota Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet May 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Jan Thurman. New officers will be installed and Shirley Sheets will present the program. This months social will be a visit to Quigley's Castle and lunch at Simply Scrumptious. Each member will contribute one item for our year long Oasis/Saving Grace project.

Bella Vista Christian Women's Club

"Blooming on Up" is the theme for the Bella Vista Christian Women's Club brunch Tuesday, May 12 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Kathy Stewart from Sam's Club will share creative floral arrangements. Guest speaker Margaret Bideau will be asking are you "Headed in the Right Direction." The brunch will be held at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. An all-American style breakfast buffet will be served and the cost is $10. The program is presented by Stonecroft Ministries. Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will hold their weekly square dance on Monday, May 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. A brief workshop at a 6:30 p.m. will precede the dance. Grant Roth will be the caller.

Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club

At the Wednesday, May 13, meeting of the Sunrise Rotary Club, Paige Miller of Arkansas Oil and Gas will speak on the importance of this thriving industry to Arkansas.

Ozark Hill Hikers

The Ozark Hill Hikers, affiliated with the American Volkssport Association (AVA), invite all club members and other interested walkers to join us for a walk at Lake Fayetteville Saturday, May 9, to celebrate World Walking Day. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Walgreens, 4007 N. Shiloh Dr., Fayetteville, Ark. This 5K/10K walk, located in Washington County, follows a wooded, paved bicycle/pedestrian trail around Lake Fayetteville. The 1K passes by the entrance to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks which may be entered for a fee.

Daughters of the American Revolution

The Lovely Purchase Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will meet Monday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive. The presenter will be Debby Wieneke, executive director of Habitat for Humanity. Members as well as prospective members are invited to attend.

Computer Club

Using technology to create photo albums for your hobbies, including scrapbooking, will be presented by Beverly Puckett at the 7 p.m. on May 11. This meeting will be held in the lower level Community Room at Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.

Computer help clinics will be offered May 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., and May 20 and June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Computer Club's classroom at Highlands Crossing Center (lower level). Bring your tower, laptop, tablet or smartphone for problem solving. The help clinic is a free service for Computer Club members. Guests may join the club and have their computer problems resolved.

Beta Sigma Phi

Members of the Laureate Alpha Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the home of Carol Tomlinson. A social time with refreshments will precede the meeting. Installation of new officers, Ritual Ceremonies for three members and the revealing of this year's Secret Sisters will be included in the meeting.

Bella Vista

Needlework Club

The Bella Vista Needlework Club meets at Riordan Hall every Monday morning at 10 a.m. The group includes those who knit, crochet, cross-stitch, weave, quilt and do various kinds of needlework. There is plenty of room, large tables and light. If you don't have a POA photo ID card, you will need to pay $2.25 at the desk. The annual group fee is $2.

Ladies Day Out

On Tuesday, May 19, the Ladies Day Out will meet in the parking lot of the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., at 11 a.m., and carpool to El Farolito Restaurant , 415 West Centerton Blvd., Centerton, for lunch. After lunch we will drive to the Arkansas Children's Shelter in Vaughn for a guided tour. They request participants show a driver's license and sign in. MOAA

The Bella Vista chapter of the Military Officers Association of America has scheduled a dinner meeting for May 26 at Concordia, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30. The program will be on Hank Eales whose widow Lois will be the guest of honor for the evening.

All men and women who served as officers of the U.S. armed forces qualify for membership in MOAA. Guests and prospective new members are always welcome at local chapter meetings.
