Coupon Club of NWA

The Coupon Club of NWA is coming back to the Bella Vista Library. The Coupon Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 28th. Join this group to learn how to be smart shoppers and save money.

Strength in Self

The Strength in Self program is a chronic disease self-management program. It is a tried and tested program that can help develop skills and techniques to better cope with issues that people with chronic disease or conditions face on a daily basis. The program covers issues such as sleep habits, exercise and activity, healthy eating, positive thinking, pain and fatigue management as well as decision making techniques. The orientation meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

YA Book Club

Teens and young adults are invited to join the new and improved YA Book Club. The club meets at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. The next meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 14. It is more of a book discussion than a book club because the group won't be reading any particular book. Instead, we will meet to discuss and share about anything the members have read lately. E-reader training

Anyone who received an e-reader for Christmas and is not quite sure how to get started may come by the Bella Vista Public Library for help. E-book training will be available every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Call the library at 479-855-1753 to schedule an appointment with Myrna, who will answer questions and teach about e-readers.

Preschool storytime

Preschoolers are invited to join this fun group for stories and crafts at 10 a.m. every Friday morning. Be sure to come to storytime this week to see Ms. Faye and Dwayne, library dog. There's always have fun when Ms. Faye and Dwayne join the group.

Teen Writing Club

Always wanted to write a book? Youngsters ages 12 and older will have a chance to learn from local author Debbie DeShields. The club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14.

Check out a kindle

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book (sci-fi, bestseller nonfiction, western, inspirational, etc.) and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff members for the check-out agreement and procedure.

Brainteasers

The library hosts this event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Jan. 21. Brainteasers packets are available at the front desk.

Mystery Book Club

The Mystery Book Club has a new meeting time. Fans of all types of mystery, crime and suspense novels are invited to join the club at 4 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month, right after Brainteasers. The next meeting will be Jan. 21. This month, the club will be reading books by David Baldacci and Lilian Jackson Braun.

Technical Thursday

Those who desire help with computers, e-readers or other "techie" devices are invited to sign up for assistance Thursday, Jan. 15. Register at the front desk for a time slot between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Story Time

with Dwayne

Come meet Dwayne, the Library Dog, as his owner, Ms. Faye, reads stories to kids of all ages at 10 a.m. the second Friday of each month as part of the Preschool Story Time program.

Homeschoolers' Corner

Homeschoolers ages 9-18 and adults gather at 10:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of every month for Homeschoolers' Corner. Participants will learn how to draw and will exchange ideas with other homeschoolers at this free program. Supplies are provided. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Color My World

Young and old alike are invited to color a masterpiece starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.

Brainteasers

The library hosts this fun event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Brainteasers packets are available at the front desk.

Sci-Fi Book Club

Science-fiction fans will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, for a fun-filled book discussion. This month's selection is "My Real Children" by Jo Walton.

Knitters

and Crocheters

Knitter and crocheter wannabes are invited to brush up on their skills and learn some new techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Novices will be guided by experienced knitters and crocheters. Participants may bring their current projects or start a new one. Attendees must bring their own supplies.

Encore Books!

The Friends of the Library's used book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. The store offers everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library.

Floral Arrangement

January's arrangement was designed by Marsha Jertson. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patrons' enjoyment.
