s Even though each person's path through grief is unique, the Grief Support Group explores the journey through the seasons of grief. Through the journey together, the group will support each other emotionally, spiritually and with ways to cope with grief in each other's lives. This study provides insight, compassion, and hope during this difficult time of loss. The group meetings on Mondays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista. Wednesday, Aug. 19

s Shiloh Museum photo archivist Marie Demeroukas will discuss the life and work of Marion Mason, an early 1900s photographer and newspaper columnist from the Washington County community of Johnson, at noon at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. As a correspondent to the Springdale News for 40 years, Mason, writing under the pen name "Mulkeepmo," recorded the weekly news from Johnson. He was also a remarkable amateur photographer, capturing such things as Frisco train wrecks, strawberry harvests, neighborhood kids, Sunday outings, schoolteachers, and the goings-on at the lime kilns. Thursday, Aug. 20

s The Third Thursday Concert at the Artist Retreat Center will feature Bella Vista's own Ron Stratton. He is a guitarist and harmonica player. He writes songs intended for others to perform, as he can't imagine ever "going on the road." His lyrics have been recognized by "American Songwriter" magazine. For the show at the ARC, he'll play several of his most personal songs. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. s Charitable Bingo will be held at St Bernard church, 1 Saint Bernard Lane, Bella Vista starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Church Hall. There will be jackpots of $700 for the first blackout and $300 second chance. Come and enjoy spending time playing bingo. There will be a snack bar. Everybody is welcome. Proceeds from the event go to local charities.

s The Boston Mountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The museum is located at 118 W. Johnson Avenue in downtown Springdale. For more information, call 479-750-8165 or visit shilohmuseum.org.

Monday, Aug. 24

s The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 South Main. The program will be given by Claudia Lasater of Siloam Springs who has just published Out of Harm's Way, a historical novel set during the Civil War in Benton County and tells the story of the Howdeshell family. Saturday, Aug. 29

s The 25th annual Highlands Homes Tour, sponsored by the Highlands Church, a United Methodist congregation, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds from the homes tour are donated to faith-based organizations in northwest Arkansas as well as national and global missions. This year's five homes are all in the Loch Lomond area -- 8 Coldstream Circle, 84 Stonehaven Drive, 35 Rath Drive, 99 Forfar Drive and 96 Kincardine Drive. Tickets, which costs $10 prior to the day of the tour and $12 on the tour day, will go on sale on Aug. 1, at any of the Arvest Banks in Bella Vista, Highlands Church or any church member.

Monday, Sept. 7

s The Bella Vista Community Concert Band will have a concert at 7 p.m. at the bandstand at Blowing Springs Park. The concert is free to the public. Attendees also can enjoy a picnic supper served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. provided by the Bella Vista Sunshine Rotary Club with proceeds being donated to non-profit organizations in the area. Blowing Springs Park is located east of U.S. 71 on Dartmoor Road. After crossing the bridge, continue to go straight after stopping at stop sign. Drive past the RV Park until arriving at Blowing Springs.
