Grand old flag firecracker scramble great success

The Bella Vista Women's Golf Club had its annual Firecracker 2 Person Scramble on July 2 at the Kingswood Golf Course, where 30 teams participated.

The winners of each flight were: Roman Candle flight -- Stephanie Kappel and Verana Steckel, 73; Parachute flight -- Dee Kincade and Linda Downum, 73; Sparklers flight --Laura Wiersema and Virgie Rees-Riedl, 73; Popper Flight -- Gail Kidd and Stevie Lamar, 63; Rockets Flight -- Biddy Pyle and Marianne Smyth, 69; Cherry Bombs flight -- Robyn Wolters and Ronnie Nelson, 68.

Best decorated golf cart was won by Judy Erickson and Gail Meyer and best costume was won by Patty Walker and Mary Henning.

After play, lunch was provided at Riordan Hall.

The American Legion had a Color Guard present to which the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Gayle Placial led the singing of the National Anthem followed by Robyn Wolters delivering the invocation.

Special recognition was given to Carolyn Mitchell from Arvest Bank, acknowledging the bank's support of the golf club and support of its Firecracker Scramble this year.

Linda Roberts and the Special Tournament Committee members drew names for many door prizes. Special thanks were given to Andy Mar, Joe Aubrey and the Golf Operations staff for their help with making the tournament a great success.
