Skip the cruise and purchase a gun

Growing up, I never had much political orientation. My grandparents were Democrats, my parents were Republican. Politics were obviously never a matter of table-talk in my formative years.

I can't remember the first time I may have ever been in a group that even discussed politics. I'm sure it was never in college, as I lived off-campus and worked 40 hours a week. It must have been well into my adult years. Along the way, however, I sorta figured it out for myself, and a recent "political action" rather illustrates my lifelong leaning.

A State (unnamed) recently enacted a bill as to how welfare recipients could, or could not, spend the money which the "government" had given them. They could not spend it on fish, seafood or luxury cruises. They could, by omission, spend it to buy guns.

"Oh," you say, "but how silly it would be to specifically mention not buying guns. They are on welfare, you know." Yes, I know.

How silly that the legislators specifically mentioned there would be no luxury cruises, they being on welfare and all, but skipped mentioning no guns. You catch how I've been leaning ...
