Technical Thursday

Those who desire help with computers, e-readers or other "techie" devices are invited to sign up for assistance on Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Bella Vista Public Library. Register at the front desk for a time slot between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Brainteasers

The library hosts this event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Dec. 17. Brainteasers packets are available at the front desk.

Mystery Book Club

Fans of all types of mystery, crime and suspense novels are invited to join the club, which will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Adult Story Hour

Ginger Hamilton is back for a Christmas reading at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18. She will be reading "A Christmas Memory" while listeners sit back, relax and enjoy light refreshments.

Dramatic Book Club's Trike Theatre

Northwest Arkansas' professional theater for youth is back as part of the Preschool Story Time program on the third Friday of each month. Join in the fun at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19.

E-book training

Anyone who receives an e-reader for Christmas and is not quite sure how to get started may come by the library for help. E-book training will be available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29-31. There is no need to make an appointment.

Homeschoolers' Corner

Homeschoolers ages 9-18 and adults are invited to attend this free program at 10:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of every month. Participants will learn how to draw and will exchange ideas with other homeschoolers. Supplies are provided. The next meeting will be Jan. 6.

Readers Inc.

Book Club

Middle-school students are invited to meet with Ms. Kellie for this lively book club at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3. The session will include a craft and refreshments.

First Saturday

for Kids

Youngsters ages 5-12 are invited to listen to stories being read and then to join in some crafting fun starting at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 3.

Story Time

with Dwayne

Come meet Dwayne, the Library Dog, as his owner, Ms. Faye, reads stories to kids of all ages at 9:30 a.m. on the second Friday of each month as part of the Preschool Story Time program.

Teen Writing Club

Youth age 12 and older are invited to participate in this book writing program led by local author Debbie DeShields. The monthly meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.

Knitters and

Crocheters

Knitter and crocheter wannabes are invited to brush up on their skills and learn some new techniques from 1 until 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Novices will be guided by experienced knitters and crocheters. Participants may bring their current projects or start a new one. Attendees must bring their own supplies.

Exhibits

December's exhibits include works by the Bella Vista Photography Club and a Santa collection from Shirley Sheets. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Cathy at 479-876-7316.

Floral arrangement

This month's arrangement was designed by Elaine Rooney. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patrons' enjoyment.

Check out a Kindle

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book -- science fiction, bestseller nonfiction, western, inspirational, etc. -- and may be checked out for three weeks. See library staff members for the checkout agreement and procedure.

Holiday hours

The library will be closed Dec. 24-26 for the Christmas holiday. Also, the library will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will remain closed Thursday, Jan. 1.

Hours of operation
