Stevie Lamar, chairwoman of the rules committee for the Bella Vista Women's Golf Club, recently held the annual Rules Workshop for members at the Metfield Clubhouse.

The event started with a continental breakfast and introductions of the committee, which is made up of Arlene Alford, Jessica Alger, Pat Davis, Linda Ekiss, Linda Roberts and Lamar.

Joining the presenters was Darryl Muldoon, PGA professional from the Bella Vista Country Club, who explained the rules of relief from obstructions and relief for hazards. He also answered questions from the members.

Back for a second year was a game show skit with contestants, sisters Kathy Johnson and Mary Riorden, along with emcee Nancy Gross. Johnson won the quiz this year.

Next was a four-segment skit titled "The Good, the Bad and the Golf Angel." The Good Angel was played by Ekiss, the Bad Angel was played by Roberts and the Golf Angel was played by Alger. Alford and Donna Marie Anderson played the part of trees and hazard stakes.

The first skit showed the proper way to take relief from a cart path and the good sportsman's conduct of discussing the rules before allowing an opponent to take improper relief and incur a penalty. The second skit discussed one opponent giving wrong advice on relief from an obstruction. The third skit presented the proper relief when a ball clears a hazard but then goes back into the hazard. The final skit gave the options for relief when a ball advances after entering a lateral hazard.
