Staff Report

Andante Music Club of Bella Vista hosted the Bentonville High School Jazz Band at its Sept. 4 meeting. Philip Shewmaker, associate director of bands, conducted 23 members who played a variety of favorite jazz tunes, with "Come, Fly with Me," "In a Sentimental Mood," "April in Paris" all played to a very appreciative, music-loving audience.

The Andante Club found that the jazz band has some extremely talented musicians. In fact, four of its musicians have been selected for the elite, 185-piece Macy's Great American Band, and will march in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thanksgiving morning.

This concert was free and open to the public, as are all Andante programs. The objective of the club is to promote interest and participation in, as well as understanding and appreciation of, music to residents in Bella Vista and neighboring communities. Contact Betty Pierce, VP, at [email protected] for more club information. The next Andante Music Club meeting will be Oct. 2. Meetings are at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.
