Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection

The Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet from 9 to10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Bella Vista Community Church located at 75 Lancashire Blvd.

Featured speaker is Roy Clark, who will play the guitar and sing a variety of country and patriotic songs.

Guest speaker is Kelly Carter of Bonner Springs, Kan. She has been a floral designer and now works at a crisis center. She will share how she found the true designer for her life.

Daughters of American Revolution

The Lovely Purchase Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution will hold its first meeting of the 2018-2019 season at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at The First United Methodist Church, located at 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista. For more information, call 479-876-2441.

Philosophy, Culture and Society Group

Every two or three weeks, this club meets to discuss a book that examines philosophy, culture and society. The group rotates books among three ways of approaching the issue: philosophy, theology/religion, and political philosophy. For example, the group has read The Closing of the Muslin Mind by Robert Riley; The Servile Mind: How Democracy Erodes the Moral Life by Kenneth Minogue, and Science and Providence by John Polkinghorne. Other authors that have been read include Rodney Stark, Edward O. Wilson, Victor Davis Hanson and Rebecca Newberger Goldstein. The books are all chosen by members and range from more popular to more serious works. The group reads only a chapter or two at a time and there is a synopsis provided prior to the discussion. BV Homesteaders

Solo Fusion -- 50-plus singles

The Solo Fusion Group is an active 50s-plus singles group in Bella Vista. There are a variety of activities and events happening each month. This group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Guaranty Bank in Jane, Mo. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. Andante Music Club

Andante Music club of Bella Vista invites the public to its first meeting of the new season. A "New Beginnings" luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m.Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista. After lunch, a concert will be given by the Bentonville High School Jazz Band. Philip Shewmaker, associate director of bands, will conduct. It's free and all are welcome to attend.

Bella Vista Women's Chorus

The Bella Vista Women's Chorus invites singers from the Tri-County area to join their group. All are welcome, with no tryouts or experience needed. Directed by Larry Zehring, the group performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Bella Vista Traveling Sams

Arkansas Good Sams is divided into six areas, and Bella Vista is in Area 1 with the Jolly Rogers Chapter and the Fort Smith Bell Point Sams. Area 1 assistant state directors are Don and Joann Cowell, and they are in charge of the camp out. Some of the activities for the camp out will include a potluck supper, Chinese auction, touring the National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum, corn-hole competition, games, Cliff Shelder singing on Saturday evening, Sunday morning devotion. BV/Bentonville Photography Club

The Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club met Aug. 28 at Guaranty Bank in Jane, Mo., for its regular monthly meeting. President Douglas Keck presented information on taking landscape photos. An outing to practice landscape photography is set for Saturday, Sept. 8. Club members will meet in the Allen's parking lot in Bella Vista at 2 p.m. to travel to the War Eagle Mill area and Hobbs State Park. Fall Contest rules were reviewed for members wishing to submit photographs. The club handbook outlines complete details for submissions.

Hoot 'n Holler Cloggers

The 2018 fall session for the Hoot 'n Holler Cloggers will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Riordan Hall. The beginner class will start at 3:30 p.m., and above beginners class follows at 4:40 p.m. A 10-session punch card for $30 can be purchased at Riordan Hall. Pick up a copy of the class schedule at registration.

BV Bluebird Society

The nesting season for this year's bluebirds is just about over, and the Bella Vista Bluebird Society needs your backyard counts for birds that have fledged. BV Woodcarvers Club

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization giving back to the community. The club teaches kids the art of carving, using soap as a medium, in hopes they will move on to the art of carving in wood. The club supplies and teaches how to use the necessary tools so children will not harm themselves during the process. Please contact the club if you have a group of kids interested in this unique art form. There is no charge. The BV Woodcarvers Club has shown and taught this art at several organizations in the surrounding area, such as the Amazeum, Bella Vista Public Library and Cub Scouts. The club also sets up a tent in mid-October at the Spanker Creek Arts and Crafts Festival, where people can view and purchase one of many member's carved wood items. As each item is handcrafted, there are no two alike. Club members (men and women) are willing to teach anyone wanting to learn the art of wood carving. An open invitation stands for anyone interested to stop by one of the meetings from 1 to 3 p.m., held every Thursday, at Riordan Hall. Village Lake Writers & Poets

Village Lake Writers & Poets meets monthly from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are free and open to the public and held at the Artist Retreat Center, home of the ARC Writers, along Highway 71, across from Lake Bella Vista (look for the two-story historic stone cabin), at 13467 Lookout Drive, Bella Vista. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing

Attention all military veterans with VA disability, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities, including education and outings. BV Amateur Radio Club

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club holds its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista. The program focuses on competitive radio operating and its benefits for public service and emergency communications. For anyone interested in acquiring an amateur radio license, the club also administers FCC exams at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. (Arkansas Highway 279), in Bella Vista. Kiwanis Club

Bella Vista Kiwanis Club meets at 7 a.m., the first and third Thursday of each month at Concordia. Breakfast is available. Visitors, Kiwanis members and former Kiwanis members are all invited to attend.

Sunrise Rotary Club

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club has a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. every Wednesday in the Concordia Main Building, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. Guests are welcome. For more information, call Sean at 417-455-6654.

American Legion Riders

Motorcycles, patriotic veteran fellowship and the thrill of a ride are what keep the American Legion Riders riding. The American Legion Riders are associated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meetings at 9:30 a.m., the third Saturday of each month, at the Bella Vista American Legion facility. If the weather allows, a ride follows and ends at a restaurant for a meal.

Nebraska Club of Bella Vista

A tailgate is planned before Nebraska plays Purdue on Saturday, Sept. 29. This event will be held at Kingsdale Pavilion in Bella Vista. Officers for the coming year will be elected. A Christmas dinner party is planned for Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Bella Vista Bar and Grill (Country Club). The Nebraska Club welcomes all former Nebraskans as members. Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets at 9 a.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall for a social hour, followed by a meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, conservation and service organization with approximately 150 members. This group of men and women share a common interest in fishing for both warm- and cold-water species found in the local streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also promotes lake conservation, recreational activities and conducts service projects throughout Northwest Arkansas.

BV Strings

Bella Vista Strings is a casual acoustic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. every Friday at the Artist Retreat Center. Those who enjoy playing different styles of music are invited to visit and consider joining the BV Strings. The group plays rock, folk, bluegrass and country. The music is submitted by members. Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus

Singing in harmony, a Cappella, is this group's enjoyment and is open to all men who like to sing. Vocal music experience is helpful.
