In reference to Letter titled Should I retire in Bella Vista?

We appreciated the letter in the Weekly Vista on Oct. 3 entitled "Should I retire in Bella Vista?" by John Walters. I found it interesting that someone from another state is already critical of our Bella Vista. This is before he moves here or even owns any property.

He is critical of the additional bike trails that are planned for Bella Vista and talks about the need for other activities that "more of the people can use." It would be helpful if he really studied the activities already offered here before he criticizes us for the "lack of all-around recreational activities for families with small children and retirees."

How about three workout facilities, four pools, a doggie park, Tanyard Creek Trail, multiple walking trails, shooting range, swimming beach, multiple kids' parks, tennis courts, pickleball courts and on and on.

We hope he follows through and decides to move to Bella Vista. Perhaps he will then realize all that Bella Vista has to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my letter.

The only thing that bothered me was your use of quotes for something that I never said, and is so far off the point I was making, I wonder if you actually read my letter.

"lack of all-around recreational activities for families with small children and retirees." That is not a quote from me. Not at all what I was saying.

The comment I think you are referring to was trying to address the money and time being spent to draw in people from outside Bella Vista and NOT on the tax paying residents. (And yes I do know that the money is coming from a Walmart fund)

Peace,
John Walters
