Now through mid-October

s For the third year, Butter Braid pastries are being sold by the PEO Chapter BR. Proceeds of the sale will make a difference in women's lives through PEO's philanthropic projects that provide higher education assistance. The fruit or cream cheese-filled pastry loaves serve 10, are delivered frozen, thaw overnight and bake in 20 minutes. Sales extend through mid-October and arrive locally the first week of November. Oct. 11

s Bella Vista Candidate Meet and Greet will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at Java Dudes, in the ARC, 13467 Look Out Drive, Bella Vista.

Oct. 13

s The second annual Vintage Flea Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Blowing Springs Park. The vintage shopping craze will include live music, food trucks, a vintage car and RV show, and a kid's fun zone. Admission is free. For vendors who specialize in vintage furniture, junk, upcycled materials or are an artisan food vendor, spots are still available. 10-foot by 10-foot spaces are $50; 10-foot by 20-foot spaces are $90; and 20-foot by 20-foot spaces are $120. Oct. 15

s The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Jay Wright will be calling. For information, contact Bill Allen at 479-876-5066.

Oct. 19

s The United Methodist Men of the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, will host the annual Fall Pancake Day Friday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $6 each and available from any member of the Methodist Men or at the church during business hours.

Oct. 25

s Bella Vista Historical Museum will host its annual open house Thursday, Oct. 25. The hours will be 4 to 7 p.m., with door prizes and refreshments to go along with the museum tour of 100-plus years of Bella Vista history.

Oct. 27

s Java Dudes will host a charity Trunk or Treat event beginning at 5 p.m. at their home, the ARC, on Saturday, Oct. 27. Vendors are able to participate with a kid-friendly decorated trunk or tent and a $40 contribution. Each vendor must have a child appropriate handout or game. Vendors will be able to sell their goods and be entered to win prizes for the following: Best Trunk, Almost Best Trunk and Almost Almost Best Trunk. Anyone with a $1 donation may vote -- vendors and participants alike. All fee proceeds and $1 vote proceeds will go the Autumn's ReRide Youth Ranch and the Bella Vista Animal Shelter. Nov. 1

s The Bella Vista Recycling Center's hours will change, effective Thursday, Nov. 1. The recycling center will be closed from 6 p.m. on Saturdays to 6 a.m. on Mondays. In addition, it will be closed on New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Nov. 3

s St. Bernard Women's Club Annual Holiday Bazaar, "Over the River and Thru the Woods," is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Bernard Church on 1 St. Bernard Lane in Bella Vista, just off 340. There will be baked goods, centerpieces and table runners, handmade holiday crafts, hand-painted items, farmhouse decor and boutique (new this year) trinkets, treasures and jewelry. A raffle of items including a queen quilt will be held, as well as a 50/50 drawing. Breakfast and lunch items will be available. All proceeds benefit local charities.

Dec. 9

s There will be a gathering of community voices on Dec. 9 to sing Handel's Christmas Messiah. Singers are wanted and welcome to join at 3 p.m. in the Bella Vista Community Church. There are no rehearsals scheduled; this is a one-time sing-along opportunity. Choruses will include: "And the Glory of the Lord"; "O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings"; "For Unto Us a Child is Born"; "Glory to God"; and "Hallelujah."
