Staff Reports

Sunday's farmers market provided an opportunity for shoppers to learn about two upcoming events for the Bella Vista Garden Club -- the 2018 Garden Party and mum pre-orders for the fall plant sale.

Marion Heath, BVGC member, wore festive attire including a lavender wide-brimmed hat to inform people about the hat contest to be conducted during the 2018 Garden Party which the club will host from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Simple Pleasures, located at 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista. The Garden Party is designed to celebrate National Garden Week and is being held in cooperation with the city of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista POA. It will feature local artists, music, delicious appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and much more.

Hand-painted wine glasses designed by club member and local artist Barb Templin will be available for purchase and entitle party-goers to an additional glass of wine. Tickets are available for a $15 donation at POA Member Services, Bella Vista Arvest Bank locations, Audrey's Resale Boutique and from Garden Club members.

While Marion was sharing information about the 2018 Garden Party, other members were busy taking orders for mums to be offered at the fall plant sale in October. The large mums will be available in six color choices: yellow, purple, red, bronze, white and tri-colored. Mums are priced at $15 each and will be available for pickup between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Garden Club holds its annual fall plant sale at Allen's parking lot.
