Teen Night -- Nine Night

Everything we do at May's Teen Night will revolve around the number nine. After the raging success of last year's Three Night, we're kicking it up a notch. Ages 11-17 are welcome. If you'll be joining us, please be sure to come in clothes that you can get wet, and bring a towel.

All About Bears

Master naturalist Denis Dean will be at the library at 6 p.m. Monday, May 21, to discuss the different species of bears found around the world, including the black bear found in Arkansas.

Library Closed

The library will be closed Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.

Foundations of Investing

Building investor IQ starts with understanding the basics. Whether new to investing or needing a refresher, there will be an educational presentation at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 31. The presentation will go over such items as the importance of developing a strategy, the impact of asset allocation and the influence of inflation on your long-term goals.

Rocket Languages

The library offers Rocket Languages through its website. This language-learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. Your library card will access it.

Kindle

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with several books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff for the check-out agreement and procedure.

Freegal Music

The library has Freegal Music. This service, available through the library website, allows our patrons to listen to and download music for free. Your library card access this service. Patrons can download and keep up to three songs a week.

Encore Books

The Friends of the Library's used-book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. Everyday low pricing is offered on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds of this ongoing fundraiser support the library.

Exhibits

May's displays are provided by Don Duncan and Carlene Beam. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479-855-1753.

Floral Arrangement

May's floral arrangement was designed and provided by Melisa Stratton of the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.

Hours and Website

Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with weekend hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center off Lancashire Blvd. (Hwy. 340 East, turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church) at 11 Dickens Place.
