The Village Lake Writers and Poets are hosting a fundraiser for the Bella Vista Public Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 11. The fundraiser will include Crow Johnson Evans' book talk, "Flights of Fancy," with a discussion on the "Intersections between Songwriting and Writing."

The event is in celebration of Bella Vista Public Library Foundation's building fundraising work that has already been accomplished, and the Village Lake Writers and Poets are hoping to help move the Library Foundation closer to its final goal of adding space to the existing Library. The Village Lake Writers are asking $10 donations for tickets, and all donations will go directly to the Bella Vista Public Library's building fund.

Crow grew up in Texas and played in Austin coffeehouses and folk clubs. She is a cancer survivor since 1991. Crow won the coveted national Kaye Wolf Memorial Award for songwriter and folk performer. And a true folk-legacy musician, Crow Johnson Evans has produced five musical albums with her original songwriting and music. Many of her songs have been recorded by major artists in country, pop and folk music -- songs such as "Painting Stories Across the Sky," "Painted Fiddle," "Fly Away Sweet Misery," "Picture the Thought," "Ring of Stones," "Pretty Boy," "People Like Us," "Gypsy Heart" and "Home Sweet Home."

Crow and her husband "Doc" Evans have lived in Gravette for more than 40 years. Crow and Doc are well known in the community and are always giving back to northwest Arkansas. Crow is also the co-founder of the Dairy Hollow Writers Colony in Eureka Springs.

Crow is a local writer and author, as well as being very active in the local writing community, including Spavinaw Writers Guild, Ozarks Writers League and Northwest Arkansas Writers. Her short stories, and "Miss Henrietta's Invisible Doors," prose and lyrics have been published in "New Works Review, Mysteries of the Ozarks." She is writing a children's book series with her next book titled "Me & Miss Henrietta" and "The Bird People Are Coming."

Crow has taught dozens of songwriting workshops, "Getting to the Song That Only You Can Write," at college campuses across the country. Crow now focuses her own creative time on new writing projects, including her children's book series, doing hands-on fabric weaving, and drawing and painting her new passion -- portraits.

Crow's first book, "Flights of Fancy," is published by Oghma Creative Media Publishing in Fayetteville.

She is excited to help promote the much needed Bella Vista Library's building expansion.
