Double Your Dollars at the Bella Vista Farmers Market

Staff Reports

Seniors who shop the Bella Vista Farmers Market can now participate in the Double Your Dollars program, which doubles the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program voucher offered through the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas.

The program is funded by a grant from the Walmart Foundation, according to its website, and supported in Bella Vista by the Bella Vista Foundation.

Shoppers who are already enrolled in the Sr-FMNP this year can bring their food vouchers to market manager Samantha Mosher when they visit the market on Sundays. Mosher will then issue coupons for each voucher, doubling the value. Shoppers can use the coupons like cash to purchase goods from the market's vendors.

The coupons are good on nearly all food products, including meat and eggs and excluding food truck purchases, Mosher said.

While most markets in the Northwest Arkansas area participate in this program, coupons issued at individual markets are good only at those particular markets, Mosher said.

This program continues throughout the year while funds remain available, according to the program's website.

For more information, visit www.marketsnap.uark.edu. Register for the Farmers Market Trail program, which provides a passport to be marked at area markets visited each month. Passports stamped by participating markets' managers can be submitted monthly to win prizes.

The Bella Vista Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays and is located in the parking lot of the Sugar Creek Center off U.S. 71.
