Harvey Brown

Harvey Brown, 102, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, June 25, 2018.

He was born in Detroit, Mich., on June 16, 1916. He was a Bombardier in WWII and an engineer by trade. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, trap shooting and building model boats in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Herbert Brown; and his wife, Genevieve.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Kellogg (Jack); and granddaughter, Michelle Moore (Les).

A private ceremony has been planned.

Shirley Jean Jurgensen

Shirley Jean Jurgensen, 81, died Thursday, June 28, 2018.

She was born to Henry and Lillian Van Osten in Kensett, Iowa, on Sept. 6, 1936. She graduated from Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa. She attended NIAC in Mason City and earned a teaching certificate.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jerald; her parents; a brother, Berdell Busick; and a sister, Sharon Van Osten.

Survivors include two sons, Scott and Steven; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Sylvia (Fred) Hardwick of Bella Vista, Ark., and Julie (Dennis) Templeton of Mason City.

Burial will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark.

James Charles Kalchik

James Charles Kalchik, 90, of St. Louis, Mo., and formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, June 24, 2018.

He was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Leland Township, Mich., to Roy and Celia (Houdek) Kalchik. He was a graduate of Northport High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned home and married Virginia (Popp) Kalchik on May 22, 1954. He enjoyed bowling, golf, cards and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kalchik; parents, Roy and Celia; sisters, Gertrude and Betty.

Survivors include daughters, Sylvia (Chuck) Efken of St. Louis, Rita (Herb) Cradduck of Lake Leelanau, Mich., Donna (Bob) Law of Laughlin, Nev., Synthia (Bruce) Semon of Kingsley, Mich.; sons, Richard (Lynne) Kalchik of Winter Garden, Fla., Ronald (Laura) Kalchik of Zanesville, Ohio, Daniel (Lisa) Kalchik of Lansing, Mich., Donald Kalchik of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Elmer and Tom; and sisters, Bernice and Pat.

A mass of Christian burial was held Monday, July 2, 2018, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Lansing, Mich.

Sheryl Ann Lee

Sheryl Ann (Shelly) Lee, 31, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, June 25, 2018, at her home.

She was born April 2, 1987, in Rogers, Ark., to Darryl Lee and Kay (Bland) Lee. Growing up, she enjoyed spending time with family on many beach vacations. She enjoyed music and animals and excelled at sports.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Betty Bland and Pete (Papa) Bland of Rogers and Evelyn Lee Culwell of Ponca City, Okla. and her Aunt Nancy Wilson.

Survivors include her parents; partner, Pat Kelly; two sons, Tyler Rose and Landon Carte; and brother, Brett Lee of Bentonville, Ark.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Nileen L. Smith

Nileen L. Smith, 70, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at her home.

She was born Feb. 9, 1948, in Orange, Calif., to Nile Robert and Dorothy (Koroly) Smith. She worked at Searama as the trainer for a variety of animals including orcas, sea lions, walruses and more. She studied cosmetology and worked in the industry for the majority of her life. Her adventures took her to Central and South America.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include daughter, Tami (fiance Warner); three grandchildren; brothers, Norman (Lesli) and Robert; and sister, Lynn Jerome (Tom).

A memorial service was held Monday, July 2, 2018, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715. Pastor Jamie Cope officiated.

Robert Donald Steigelman

Robert "Bob" Donald Steigelman, 92, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Northwest Medical in Bentonville, Ark.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1925, in Yonkers, N.Y., to William Steigelman and Martha Steigelman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty Steigelman; and a great-grandchild, Savannah.

Survivors include three sons, Alan, Peter and Donald; three daughters, Rebecca, Catherine and Lori; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral service was held Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista.
