Help expand the Library

Medicare 101 Feb. 1

Jeremy Janes, a licensed independent insurance agent in Bentonville, will host an educational Medicare 101 seminar on at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Bella Vista Public Library. Topics included in the lecture are Four parts of Medicare, 2018 changes and 2018 A & B insurance cost.

Legomania Feb. 3

Put your creativity to the test! Use the library's Legos to create whatever you want. Legomania is a great opportunity to let the imagination run wild. Legomania takes place on the first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. The next meeting is Feb. 3.

A Taste of Bella Vista Feb. 12

On Monday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m., Jill Werner, member of the Bella Vista Historical Museum, will provide a history of cuisine in Bella Vista. From the early Native Americans to the installation of the Dairy Queen, this presentation looks at the agriculture, restaurants, resort menus, grocery stores, and so much more that shaped how people ate in Bella Vista. As a special treat, there will be a tasting element made from a recipe in a 1967 Bella Vista cookbook. Mark the calendar.

Contested Memories of the Civil War Feb. 15

Professor David Schieffler takes a look at the four main traditions by which members of the Civil War generation remembered and commemorated the war and the ways in which those traditions still influence the way it is remembered today. This presentation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15.

FREEGAL Music

FREEGAL music is free to all library members and is available through the library website. This service allows patrons to download and listen to music. A library card will access this service.

Rocket Languages

Rocket Languages are offered through the library website. This language-learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. A library card is all that is needed to access it.

Kindle Fires and Kindle Paperwhites

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with several books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff for the check-out agreement and procedure.

The Bella Vista Public Library maintains a website at www.bvpl.org to include up-to-date library information. Contact information, library hours and events are a click away.

Encore Books

The Friends of the Library's used-book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. Encore Books offers low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and additional items. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library. New items are added almost daily.

Exhibits

January's displays are provided by Don Duncan and Susan Coley. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Rebecca at 479-855-1753.

Floral Arrangement

January's floral arrangement was designed and provided by the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.

Hours of Operation

Regular library hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center off Lancashire Blvd. at 11 Dickens Place (turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church).
