Glenn Duffy Elementary students in Gravette attended the monthly Rise and Shine assembly. Staff and guests celebrated as Glenn Duffy students were recognized for class and individual awards. The PAWS Program incorporates character education and positive behavior into the school community.

Each month, PAWS skills are chosen and discussed in classroom guidance in relation to character education. School staff always watches for opportunities to encourage students for excellent character, behavior or effort.

The character word for this month is patience. This is defined as waiting calmly without complaining during times of frustration or trouble. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is often quoted: "Good things will happen to the person who waits." This character trait pairs quite well with this month's social skill, waiting your turn. Steps to practice this skill include 1) take a deep breath and count to 10, 2) think about good choices you can make (talk it out, walk away to a safe place, find an adult to help), 3) make the best choice.

Many Glenn Duffy Elementary students were recognized for classroom PAWS awards, Terrific Kids or Box Top awards. For more information about Glenn Duffy school assemblies, gravetteschools.net/gde.
