Lower Suits Us Closed

The city has planned an extended road closure on Suits Us Drive, near its intersection with U.S. Highway 71.

The closure was expected to begin Tuesday, Feb. 13, and last for approximately one month while crews work to finish a paving project that will widen the road to two full lanes and improve drainage around it.

Bella Vista communications manager Cassi Lapp said that the exact duration of the road closure is impossible to say because it may be affected by the weather.

This section of road is going to be paved with concrete, not asphalt, she said, because it sees a great deal of drainage. The concrete will last longer and require less maintenance, she said.

But this also requires a different process, she said, and there will be exposed rebar until the final layers of concrete are in place.

"To avoid any kind of dangerous situations, it's safer we close the road completely," Lapp said.
