BV Computer Club

The Bella Vista Computer Club monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, in Community Room A (Room 1001) on the lower level of the Highlands Crossing Center, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista. The meeting will include a Panel of Experts Q&A with Justin Sell, owner of Bella Vista Computer Services, and Woody Ogden, of the Bella Vista Computer Club. They will answer any computerized-device-related questions the audience has. To ensure a question is answered, submit it in advance of the meeting. BV Christian Women's Connection

The Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista. The public is invited. The featured speaker, Suzanne Watkins, a former teacher and a member of our Christian Women's Connection, will present "Re-purpose Your Junk," giving tips on utilizing household "things" to create crafts and gift items. Guest speaker is Mary Walton of Hutchinson, Kan., also a former teacher, will share thoughts on "Discard the Old," meaning -- discarding old clothes and wearing the new for the right occasions. This brunch is held every second Tuesday of the month and an "All-American Breakfast" is served for $10. The program is sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries. Active and Retired Federal Employees

The next monthly meeting of Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association is at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, in the Community Room of Guaranty Bank (formerly Hometown Bank), 21196 Highway 71 South, Pineville, Mo., just past Walmart. Doughnuts will be provided. The guest speaker, Tom Judson, the chief operating officer of the Bella Vista Property Owners' Association, will present the latest information on restaurants, golf courses and amenities offered to members. Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization giving back to the community. The club teaches kids the art of carving using soap as a medium in hopes they will move on to the art of carving in wood. The club supplies and teaches the necessary tools to use, so children will not harm themselves during the process. Please contact the club if you have a group of kids interested in this unique art form. There is no charge. The BV Woodcarvers Club has shown and taught this art at several organizations in the surrounding area, such as: the Amazeum, Bella Vista Public Library and Cub Scouts. The club also sets up a tent in mid-October at the Spanker Creek Arts and Crafts Festival, where one can view and purchase members' carved wood items. As each item is hand crafted; there are no two alike.

Club members (men and women) are talented carvers willing to teach anyone wanting to learn the art of wood carving. An open invitation stands for anyone interested to stop by one of the meetings from 1 to 3 p.m. held every Thursday at Riordan Hall. Questions? Village Lake Writers & Poets

Village Lake Writers & Poets meet monthly from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. The meetings are free and open to the public and held at the Artist Retreat Center, Home of the ARC Writers, along Highway 71, across from Lake Bella Vista (look for the two-story Historic Stone Cabin) at 13467 Lookout Drive, Bella Vista. Calico Cut Ups

Calico Cut Ups is hosting May Gunter Black, a certified Judy Niemeyer instructor, who will teach a workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Becker Hall in the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr., Bella Vista. Judy Niemeyer's pattern May, a Cactus Flower table runner, will be used in the workshop. The pattern is $25 and the class is $30. Judy Niemeyer is an international instructor using foundation paper piecing techniques for her quilt patterns. She has created a network of certified instructors to teach her techniques, along with many certified shops where her classes are conducted and her fabric and patterns are available. Hoot 'n Holler Cloggers

The 2018 fall session for the Hoot 'n Holler Cloggers will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Riordan Hall. A beginner's class is at 3:30 p.m. and an above-beginners class follows at 4:40 p.m. A 10-session punch card for $30 can be purchased at Riordan Hall. Bella Vista Traveling Sams

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, for the annual ice cream social at the home of Judy Duncan in Bella Vista. The next outings for the Bella Vista Traveling Sams are scheduled for Sept. 20-23, Friendship in Grove, Okla.; and Oct. 28-31, Devil's Den State Park for the annual cleanup. BV Decorative Artists

The Bella Vista Decorative Artists are holding a Mad Hatter Card and Game Party from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, located at 1 St. Bernard Lane in Bella Vista. There will be an art décor store, door prizes and basket raffles. A table minimum of four players is needed and all cards and games are welcome. Proceeds from the event will be used to support service projects and art enhancements for northwest Arkansas. The cost is $12 per person and includes lunch. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing

Attention all military veterans with VA disability, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities, including education and outings. Kiwanis Club

Bella Vista Kiwanis Club meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at 7 a.m. at Concordia. Breakfast is available. Visitors, Kiwanis members and former Kiwanis members are all invited to attend.

Sunrise Rotary Club

BV Amateur Radio Club

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club holds its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista. The program focuses on competitive radio operating and its benefits for public service and emergency communications. For anyone interested in acquiring an amateur radio license, the club also administers FCC exams at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. (Arkansas Highway 279) in Bella Vista. American Legion Riders

Motorcycles, patriotic veteran fellowship and the thrill of a ride are what keep the American Legion Riders riding. The American Legion Riders are associated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Bella Vista American Legion facility. If the weather allows, a ride follows and ends at a restaurant for a meal.

Nebraska Club of Bella Vista

The Nebraska Club of Bella Vista and northwest Arkansas has announced its planned events for the remainder of 2018. The club will kick off the football season with a social hour and dinner on Saturday, Aug. 11. The event will take place at the Tanyard Creek Pavilion in Bella Vista. Four tickets for the Nebraska-Troy game in Lincoln on Saturday, Sept. 15, will be auctioned off. A tailgate is planned before Nebraska plays Purdue on Saturday, Sept. 29. This event will be held at Kingsdale Pavilion in Bella Vista. Officers for the coming year will be elected. A Christmas dinner party is planned for Saturday, Dec. 1, at the BV Bar and Grill (Country Club).

Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets at 9 a.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall for a social hour, followed by a meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, conservation and service organization with approximately 150 members. This group of men and women share a common interest in fishing for both warm- and cold-water species found in the local streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also promotes lake conservation, recreational activities and conducts service projects throughout Northwest Arkansas.

BV Strings

Bella Vista Strings is a casual acoustic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. every Friday at the Artist Retreat Center. Those who enjoy playing different styles of music are invited to visit and consider joining the BV Strings. The group plays rock, folk, bluegrass and country. The music is submitted by members. Men's Chorus

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. Women's Chorus

The Women's Chorus invites singers from the tri-county area to join the chorus. All are welcome, with no tryouts or experience necessary. The chorus performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are Mondays at 12:45 p.m. in the music room of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church. Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday at Bella Vista Church of Christ, 989 McNelly Road, Bentonville (across from Lowes). Singing in harmony, a Cappella, is this group's enjoyment and is open to all men who like to sing. Vocal music experience is helpful.
