Kansas Sunflower Club

The Kansas Sunflower Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 23, at the Highland Christian Church located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. Park in the north parking lot and enter the north door. This month, current President Charles Learned will play the auto harp and sing a few songs leading the group in a singalong from his old "Singalong Book with Golden Oldies from yesteryear. There will be $3 pizza and drink, and attendees are asked to bring a potluck salad, vegetable or dessert dish to share. All former Kansas residents are welcome. BV Homesteaders

The Bella Vista Homesteaders will gather at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Concordia of Bella Vista. Roxie Wright will present "Bella Vista Library." Yearly dues of $10 are due at this meeting. Nebraska Club

The Nebraska Club of Northwest Arkansas will kick off the year 2018 with a Watch Party at Papa Mike's on April 21. The Spring Game of the Nebraska Cornhuskers is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and will be televised on the Big 10 Network. This is the first opportunity to see the new coach, Scott Frost, in action. Sons of the American Revolution

The McKissic Chapter of the SAR will meet at the Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21. For more information call Bob at 479-876-6755.

Village Lake Writers and Poets

The Village Lake Writers and Poets will host Zeek Taylor for a talk and book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the Artist Retreat Center in Bella Vista. Zeek, regionally and nationally recognized, is from Eureka Springs.

Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Bob Loyd will be the caller. There will be a workshop at 6:30 p.m., before the dance. For information, contact Bill Allen at 479-876-5066.

NAGS

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, at the Bentonville Public Library, located at 405 S. Main St. in Bentonville. Marie Demeroukas, the photo archivist and research librarian from Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, will present "The Dating Game: How to Determine the Age of Your Historic Photos." Calico Cut-Ups

Calico Cut-Ups is a quilt guild of Bella Vista and meets at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr., Bella Vista on the fourth Monday of the month. A guest speaker begins at 1 p.m. For members, there is no charge; otherwise, there is a $5 fee to help pay for the speaker of the day. The guild is for all levels of quilters, from beginners to experts. It is an informational meeting and a great way to get into quilting and meet other people.

The next meeting is at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, and there will be no guest speaker. The theme of the meeting is "Return to Learn." There will be several stations, where a different aspect of quilting will be demonstrated. Some of the stations include: Reverse Appliqué, Sewing Tips and Gadgets, Quilt As You Go, Hexies Old and New, Thread Painting, and Hand Quilting methods. BV Bluebird Society

The Bella Vista Bluebird Society (BVBBS) will host its annual public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Bella Vista Public Library. This is a good opportunity to learn about the BVBBS, learn how to monitor a bluebird box and see nests and eggs of bluebirds and other birds that use the boxes. Refreshments will be served. Laureate Alpha Gamma

The Laureate Alpha Gamma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on April 11 at the home of Juanita Prior, with Ricki Landowski acting as co-hostess. Officers for the year 2018-2019 were installed. They are president, Pat Zornes; vice president, Jan Vogel; recording secretary, Linda Krysl; treasurer, Barbara Downs; and parliamentarian, Annette Allsup. The members will attend the annual Founder's Day function on Friday, April 27. The group will travel to Sandstone Gardens in Joplin, Mo., on Saturday, April 21, for shopping and lunch for their monthly social.

Beta Sigma Phi

Beta Sigma Phi will celebrate Founder's Day Friday, April 27, at the United Methodist Church on Boyce Drive in Bella Vista. Registration at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15 per person. All Beta Beta Sigma Phi members are welcome. Laureate Alpha Mu is hosting the event.

Bella Vista Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Bella Vista Community Church, located at 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. and features Connie Rieper-Estes, owner of Greedy Goats of NWA -- "When Greedy is Good." The business meeting will follow. The Bella Vista Garden Club's spring plant sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Village Waste Water. The sale includes perennials, native plants, shrubs and trees at a reasonable price. Proceeds from the spring plant sale fund scholarships for students studying horticulture at area colleges and universities. Funds are also used to support Bella Vista beautification projects such as the planting of daffodils at city offices, fire stations and the Bella Vista Historical Museum.

The Bella Vista Garden Club will host the 2018 Garden Party from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Simple Pleasures, 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista. This event is held in cooperation with the city of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista POA and will feature local artists, music, delicious appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and much more. Tickets may be purchased for $15 at POA Member Services, Bella Vista Arvest Bank locations, Audrey's Resale Boutique, and from Garden Club Members. Sunrise Rotary Club

Bella Vista Strings

Bella Vista Strings is a casual acoustic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. every Friday at the Artist Retreat Center. Those who enjoy playing different styles of music are invited to visit and consider joining the BV Strings. The group plays rock, folk, bluegrass and country. The music is submitted by members. NWA Coin Club

The Northwest Arkansas Coin Club meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites hotel in Rogers. Meet other collectors and enjoy educational presentations on coins and collecting. The meetings are open to the public and all ages are welcome. American Legion Riders

If motorcycles, fellowship with patriotic persons, veterans, or family member of a veteran and the thrill of the ride sounds like enjoyment, then The American Legion Riders is for you! The American Legion Riders are associated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Bella Vista American Legion facility. If the weather allows, a ride follows and ends at a restaurant for a meal.

Woodcarvers Club

The Bella Vista Woodcarvers Club invites new members. Member carvers hold varying levels of carving skills from beginner to master-skilled and are willing to teach at no cost. The club also offers classes from time to time. There are several women members who work with pyrography (wood burning) as well as carving, and one member works with chain-saw carving. The Woodcarvers Club teaches soap carving classes to young children in the area. The club meets at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista from 1 to 3 p.m. every Thursday. Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets at 9 a.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall for a social hour followed by meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, conservation and service organization with approximately 150 members. This group of men and women share a common interest in fishing for both warm- and cold-water species found in the local streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also promotes lake conservation, recreational activities and conducts service projects throughout northwest Arkansas.

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday at Bella Vista Church of Christ, 989 McNelly Road, Bentonville (across from Lowes). Singing in harmony, a Cappella, is this group's enjoyment and is open to all men who like to sing. Vocal music experience is helpful. Women's Chorus

The Women's Chorus invites singers from the tri-county area to join the chorus. All are welcome, with no tryouts or experience needed. The chorus performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are Mondays at 12:45 p.m. in the music room of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church.
