Village Lake Writers and Poets

Village Lake Writers and Poets will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Artists Retreat Center in Bella Vista. The featured speaker will be Tamara Hart Heiner, a local fiction writer and published author.

The Village Lake Writers and Poets will celebrate National Poetry Month on Sunday, April 15, at the Bella Vista Historical Museum in Bella Vista. The celebration will include presentations by Xyta Lucas on the BV Historical Museum and Joanie Roberts on the first Bella Vista Poet Laureate, Henry Coffin Fellow, "Uncle Henry." The public is encouraged to attend this informative event from 2 to 4 p.m.

NARFE BV Chapter 1547

Bella Vista Chapter 1547 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at the Hometown Bank, 21196 Highway 71 South, Pineville, Mo., just past Walmart. Donuts will be provided. Officers will discuss the information necessary for federal employees and annuitants to have readily available for family members. This information includes survivor benefits and health and life insurance. All current and retired federal employees and their spouses are welcome. Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild

The Calico Cut-ups Quilt Guild of Bella Vista is hosting "Blessed are the Piece Makers" Quilt Show on April 13 and 14 at the First Assembly of God Family Life Center, 1771 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista. Admission hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 13, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. A $7 donation is requested, and children under 10 are free. The show features ongoing demonstrations, quilts for sale, many other vendors, lunch, bids for gift baskets, certified quilt appraiser Alice McElwain, and the custom quilt raffle. Kingsdale Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Bob Loyd will be the caller. There will be a workshop at 6:30 p.m. prior to the dance. For information, contact Bill Allen at 479-876-5066.

Union Veterans of the Civil War

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will meet on April 16. The meeting will be held at Foghorns Restaurant at 2221 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization honoring the heritage of the those who fought for the United States during the Civil War. BV/Bentonville Photography Club

The Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the Hometown Bank in Jane. April's contest will be "composite/layering/stacking."

NWA Coin Club

The Northwest Arkansas Coin Club meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites hotel in Rogers. Meet other collectors and enjoy educational presentations on coins and collecting. The meetings are open to the public and all ages are welcome. Nebraska Club

The Nebraska Club of Northwest Arkansas will kick off the year with a watch party at Papa Mike's on April 21. The spring game of the Nebraska Cornhuskers is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and will be televised on the Big 10 Network. This is the first opportunity to see the new coach, Scott Frost, in action. NAGS

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, at the Bentonville Public Library, located at 405 S. Main St. in Bentonville. Marie Demeroukas, the photo archivist and research librarian from Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale, will be presenting "The Dating Game: How to Determine the Age of Your Historic Photos." Beta Sigma Phi

Beta Sigma Phi will celebrate Founder's Day Friday, April 27, at the United Methodist Church on Boyce Drive in Bella Vista. Registration is at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15 per person. All Beta Beta Sigma Phi's are welcome. Laureate Alpha Mu is hosting the event. BV Bluebird Society

The Bella Vista Bluebird Society will host its annual public meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Bella Vista Public Library. This is a good opportunity to learn about the BVBBS, learn how to monitor a bluebird box and see nests and eggs of bluebirds and other birds that use the boxes. Refreshments will be served. American Legion Riders

If motorcycles, fellowship with patriotic persons, veterans or family members of a veteran and the thrill of the ride sounds like enjoyment, then The American Legion Riders is for you. The American Legion Riders are associated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Bella Vista American Legion facility. If the weather allows, a ride follows and ends at a restaurant for a meal.

Bella Vista Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Bella Vista Community Church, located at 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. and features Connie Rieper-Estes, owner of Greedy Goats of NWA -- "When Greedy is Good." The business meeting will follow. The Bella Vista Garden Club will host the 2018 Garden Party from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Simple Pleasures, 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista. This event is held in cooperation with the city of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista POA, and will feature local artists, music, appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and more. Kansas Sunflower Club

All former Kansas residents are welcome to attend the Sunflower Club meetings on the fourth Monday of each month, except December. There is a $3 charge for pizza and drink, and each attendee is asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert dish to share. There are no dues to attend. Bella Vista Strings is a casual acoustic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. every Friday at the Artist Retreat Center. Those who enjoy playing different styles of music are invited.
