Bella Vista Community Church

Join us for worship at 9:30 a.m.Sunday mornings with coffee fellowship before and after the service. Pastor Anna Teel will be preaching Sunday, Sept. 24. During the worship service, a staffed nursery is available, as well as children's worship for ages 4-12.

Newcomers' Orientation meets Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the parlor for anyone interested in learning more about the church.

Everyone is welcome to join the pastors' Wednesday for weekly prayer and worship from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel.

Growing Through Grief Support Group meets Thursday, Sept. 21, at 3:30 p.m. in the parlor.

Men's Bible Study started a new study on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Pastor Jeff Reed facilitates this new six-week DVD series by R. C. Sproul titled "Chosen by God." The meetings are on Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., downstairs in room 8/9.

Women's Bible Study starts Thursday, Sept. 28. This is a six-week series on the book Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinberg. The cost of the book is $15. The meetings are on Thursday, with the morning session at 9:30 a.m. and the evening session at 6 p.m. Both meet downstairs in room 8/9.

Parish nurses are available to answer questions and check blood pressure each Wednesday in the nurses' office from 9 a.m. to noon.

Prayer Fellowship meets every Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the conference room.

Unity Church of the Ozarks

"Practicing the Presence of God" is the 10 a.m. Sept. 24, presentation by the Rev. Elise Cowan at the new church location. Join for excellent fellowship.

Finding Yourself in Transition by Robert Brummet will be the study material for the Sunday morning class from 9 to 10 a.m. This material explores the spiritual opportunities inherent in life's changes and how to use them as a gateway to greater personal and spiritual growth.

The Untethered Soul: A Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Singer will be studied Wednesday nights from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by a 20-minute meditation.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

The Lutheran Hour is broadcast every Sunday on radio station KURM-FM 100.3 and station KURM-AM 790.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are asking for pure pumpkin, evaporated milk and cranberry sauce or the funds to purchase this stock. A container for your donations is in the church narthex. During the month of August, the pantry helped 515 folks, represented by 150 families. So far this year, the food pantry has helped feed 4,055 people.

The SONday riders will leave the church parking lot at 2 p.m. The Silver Needle Quilters will meet on Monday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. The Men's Bible study meets on Mondays at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. The Prayer Shawl makers meet on Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. The SONshiners meet on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m., and GriefShare meets at 3 p.m. in the church library.

Highland Christian

(Disciples of Christ)

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) meets for Worship with communion at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday school classes start at 9 a.m. offering three adult studies and "Creative Worship" for youth. Coffee fellowship is from 10-10:30 a.m.

If you enjoy singing and great fellowship, join our choir for practice each Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The church will host the annual indoor yard and bake sale on Sept. 21-22, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sept. 23, from 7 a.m. to noon. There is a large variety of items offered from home décor, furniture, tools, golf and fishing gear, Christmas décor and many more treasures too numerous to list. Also homemade baked sale items. Come early and enjoy great fellowship, bargains and baked goods.

The Sunflower Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at Highland Christian Church. Bingo will be played, and a potential prize should be brought by each contestant. New Wine Ministry

New Wine Ministry will be hosting the Celebration of Feast of Tabernacles beginning Thursday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 15. The celebration will be held at the NWA Ministry Center, 2262 Forest Hills Blvd., in Bella Vista. These evening meetings will be at 6:30 p.m.

There will also be morning meetings at 9 a.m. during the week for breakfast, followed by praise and worship and scheduled speakers throughout the Feast. Presbyterian Church

On Sunday, Sept. 10, the congregation shared a potluck dinner following worship service to say farewell to assistant pastor Liz Wagner and her husband Jim. Pastor Liz has received and accepted a call to First Presbyterian Church in Logan, Ohio.

The Ladies Birthday Lunch group will meet on Friday, Sept. 22, at 11:30 a.m., to celebrate those having a birthday during the month. Sign up at the Information Center to learn the location of this month's luncheon.

The community is invited to worship at a traditional worship service on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. Christian Education classes for all ages meets at 8:30 a.m. The Contemporary Issues Class continues with a new six-week study on "Christianity and World Religions" by Adam Hamilton. A nursery attendant is available. We always welcome new friends.

On the fourth Sunday of each month, food items are collected for the Helping Hands Food Pantry in Bentonville. This month the requested food items are canned vegetables -- although, any food items and monetary donations would be appreciated. The collection table is located in the connector hallway.

Members of the church will conduct a worship service at Concordia Care Center on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m., and again on Monday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m., for the participants at Village House in Bella Vista.

Martha Garvin Circle of Presbyterian Women is again collecting gently-used sweaters and sweatshirts (all sizes for men, women and children) that will be given to the Salvation Army for distribution. The collection box will be in the connector hallway through Nov. 13.

"Clean Up Buckets" for storm victims in Texas and Florida are being filled with supplies needed to help with recovery efforts. Members of the church can pick up a supply list in the connector hallway and see samples of the supplies that are needed. Twelve buckets have already been sent and another 12 buckets are ready to go. This is a continuing project of the Missions Committee.

St. Bernard Catholic Church

Daily morning Mass is celebrated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

Evening Mass is celebrated on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Mass is celebrated on Saturdays (Sunday vigil) at 5 p.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m.

The Men's Club is in need of volunteers to prepare the breakfast before the monthly meetings. Consider volunteering so the club can continue the breakfast tradition that brings so much fellowship to the monthly meetings. The first meeting is Saturday, Sept. 9. Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in our area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers. There will be no meal or any other activities at the church this evening. Instead, there will be an International Foods potluck meal at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, followed by various missionary presentations during Missions Event weekend. The community is always welcome.

Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m., the Ladies' Bible Study on Philippians led by Joanne Morris will be held. Women from the community are welcome to attend and a free study guide will be provided. Just bring a Bible (a translation, not a paraphrase) and a notebook. Call the church office for more information.

Saturday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m., the church has an International Foods potluck meal followed by various missionary presentations during Missions Event weekend. The community is always welcome.

Sunday, Sept. 24, Sunday School classes are offered for children at 9 a.m. In lieu of Adult Sunday school, as part of our Missions Event weekend, various missionary presentations will be given during the 9 a.m. Sunday school hour, followed by the 10:15 a.m. Worship Service. Pastor Mark Voll will continue his sermon series titled, "The Making of a D.I.S.C.I.P.L.E." This week's sermon title is "A Disciple of Jesus Christ is...Satisfied" with a text of Philippians 4:10-13. Infant and toddler nursery and Children's Church for kids are offered as well. At 2:30 p.m. a ministry team from the church will provide a chapel service at The Meadows independent and assisted-living facility in Bentonville.

A ladies' KniTTogether ministry and the White Cross Women's Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m. The ladies enjoy informal fellowship while working on projects that benefit needy children and adults in our area, as well as, a hospital in the Congo. Any ladies from the community are welcome to come and learn more about these ministries.

Unitarian Universalists

The Unitarian Universalists of Benton County have moved to 1400 W. Walnut, No. 113, in The Quarter Shopping Center located in Rogers. Coffee and social time begins at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday service starting at 11 a.m.

Sunday School is available for children with a Unitarian Universalist adaptation of Jerome Berryman's book, "Spirit Play" as the primary resource. We structure the morning based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environment and the teachers. These elements free the children to work at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

Highlands Church

The next Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., organized by Highlands United Methodist Men. Photo ID is required. Eat well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive.

The new contemporary worship service is at 11 a.m. Sundays. Nursery and Children's church (kindergarten through fifth grade) also available during the service.

Highlands Student Ministry, where middle school and high school students, can share and grow their faith, Sundays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 pm.

The next Churchwide Spiritual Growth Emphasis starts Sept 30. Experience the miracle of God's healing mercy during the study of 'The Miracle of Mercy" by Rick Warren. Signups are happening now. Call the church office for more information.

GriefShare is a grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. Join on Wednesdays, from 1 to 3 p.m., for a 13-week session beginning Sept 27. For questions or to join this group, contact the church office.

Oct. 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., come to Highlands Church Fellowship Hall for the next Planning Ahead Series "Medicare 2018," presented by Will Corporon, Insurance and Financial Services. Admission to each program is one nonperishable food item.

The new Flex 'N Stretch classes began Sept 4. Classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Call the church office for more information.

ReNovate Church

Worship at the new ReNovate Church. Sunday worship is at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Kelly Nesbitt. The church is located at 13827 N. Arkansas Highway 279 in Hiwasse.

United Methodist Church

"When Mourning Dawns: A Journey Through Grief," is a nine-week journey through the experiences of grief from the withering of autumn to the hopeful new growth of summer. The group meets on Tuesdays and continues through Oct. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Chapel. A donation of $10 for the participant book is welcomed.

Midweek Manna has begun for the fall. The group meets in fellowship with a meal starting at 5:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. Suggested donation is $5 per adult, $3 for children under 10, and family maximum is $15. Small group study, small craft and activity groups meet from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Classes include a Women's Bible Study, Technology for Senior, Elder-Care, The Shack, Invitation to the Old Testament, Color Your Way to Calm, and Bazaar crafts. New classes will be added soon. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers. Pre-K through sixth grade will learn Bible basics through Bible stories, memorization of scripture and song. If needed, time for homework is provided. Youth Life, grades seven through twelve, will meet in the Youth Room.

Prayer shawl ministry has resumed meeting on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 6. Come for an hour of visiting and stitching. To learn how to knit, members will be happy to instruct you. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving, and other circumstances. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being lovingly made.

Friends plus healthy living meets Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the chapel to walk for a while and then come back to share tips on making healthier lifestyle choices, and encourage and uplift one another. A healthy snack is usually shared.

Men's Emmaus meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Room 22. This group is open to any fellow who has gone through the Emmaus process.

Bazaar craft workshops meet on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue meeting every Thursday until the Oct. 7 bazaar. Bring a sack lunch along if you can stay past the noon hour and/or a snack to share. This will be a great time for meeting new friends and sharing your crafty talents.

The Chancel Choir and Chancel Handball Choir both have resumed rehearsals after a summer hiatus. The Chancel Bells meet in the Music Room weekly at 3:30 p.m. and the Chancel Choir will meet in the sanctuary at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Dr. Larry Zehring, Director of Music Ministries at 479-855-1158.

New Life Christian Church

New Life Christian Church offers four weekend services beginning at 5 p.m on Saturday, and 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. An ASL Certified Interpreter is provided at the 11:30 a.m. service every Sunday. New Life Kids' programming for children, ages birth through 6th grade, is offered at all weekend services.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students will attend the Getaway conference Sept. 29-30 at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo.

New Life Womens Ministry will host a fall retreat on Sept. 29-30 at Roaring River Inn in Cassville, Mo.
