Famed architect focus of museum exhibit

The Bella Vista Historical Museum now has an exhibit about the work done by architect E. Fay Jones in Bella Vista.

Museum volunteer Susan Porter organized the exhibit, with funding by the Bella Vista Blowing Springs Questers chapter. Jones, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, is credited with designing the Bella Vista Country Club, the Cooper Chapel, and the John Drum residence on Lake Windsor in Bella Vista.

For this exhibit, Porter did the captions, text and photography of the buildings, and volunteer Carole Harter obtained permission to photograph the drawings and plans from the E. Fay Jones Collection in the Mullins Library Special Collections at the University of Arkansas.

Jerry Snow mounted the text and pictures, and donated all the materials for his work.

The public is invited to see this and all the museum's exhibits representing the more-than 100 years of Bella Vista history. Located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Kingsland Road, next door to the American Legion, the museum is open 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is free.
