Spry Girls, across from Sugar Creek Plaza, held a grand opening Thursday.

Co-owners and cousins Nancee Spry and Lisa Spry met with a small crowd to cut a ribbon to officially open their hybrid boutique and gift shop.

Nancee Spry said the shop isn't new so much as it's relocated. They ran the shop for a decade in Eureka Springs, she said. After she moved to Bella Vista to live closer to family, the new commute proved too much. So she closed up in Eureka Springs last fall, she said. She opened this new shop near the end of April.

Bella Vista is an interesting change from Eureka Springs, where she would primarily see tourists who would stop in once then leave town. Here, she said, she's meeting more locals who have stopped in to take a look at the shop -- though a handful, she said, recognized the sign out front.

"I really like it here," she said.

The shop, Lisa Spry said, carries a wide array of clothing, as well as some gourmet foods -- including popcorn, jams and jellies -- lotions, purses, hats, decorative signs, shoes, boots, jewelry, sunglasses and readers, among other things. Moreover, she said, while it is primarily geared toward women, they have dedicated a small portion of the shop to men's apparel.

Travis Stephens, Bella Vista's economic development manager, said Spry Girls is a very eclectic store. He's glad to see it open. Additionally, he said, it had some unusual goods one might not find anywhere else in town.

"We need some clothing stores in Bella Vista, this is good," he said.

The shop is at 2844 Bella Vista Way, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and clsoed Sunday and Monday. The shop's phone number is 479-319-6773.

Coldwell Banker Realtor Julie Hull said she could see herself shopping at Spry Girls.

"She's got some cute stuff," she said. "I love the hats."
